Its stupid how long it takes. The first 14 days is literally just a waiting period should we change our minds on a switch.0

British gas emailed me on the 10/09/21 with the following:
As of 10th September you became our customer, welcome to the British Gas family.
I assume I should be able to switch with no issues, no?

So as soon as BG is listed as your supplier on the Ofgem website, it is safe to start a switch?'The journey home, is never too far...'

I cancelled my direct debit on 8 Sep following the advice on Ofgem website as my account was in credit by almost £100. Received the automatic emails from PFP about the direct debit being cancelled, and this morning, 5 days after they went bust I've received another email asking me to set up a new direct debit and I've noticed in my account they have applied a £12 "penalty charge" dated today. How can they do this 5 days after they went out of business 😬😬😬. I'm hoping I can dispute this with British Gas0

They can't. Your contract ended with them when their licence was revoked. This behaviour is unacceptable.

You cannot raise a complaint against PfP as it is no longer trading. The Energy Ombudsman will not entertain a complaint as PfP no longer holds a Supply Licence. If the £12 has been added to your account, then this is something that you might have to take up with the PfP Administrator unless BG does it on your behalf.1

A little update. Having initiated a switch away from PfP, the day I received the BG SoLR email, I have now got the "Sorry you're leaving" email from PfP. I realise this is probably an automated response, but in the absence of tariff any details from BG, I wonder if I'll manage to escape BG's clutches?

But the fact is that you are currently being supplied by BG, and will be until the switch goes ahead., as you have previously acknowledged in this thread.
I understand you switch will not occur until 28/09.
If your switch request (against advice given) proceeds, and as BG are having effectively having to play 'catchup' with updating the appropriate systems, your actions may complicate BG setting up your account promptly, which may also possibly affect your PfP account being settled in a timely manner.

There's the cooling off period. I presume I can still cancel the transfer. It's the lack of a concrete offer from BG that bothers me.
