Huge batch of chilli made, which is now cooling ready to portion up for the freezer. Eggs collected and boxed for deliveries.
Large bush at the back of the house cut back, it looks so much tidier and only took me 20 mins. Swimming stuff packed, clean laundry put away, now to read for a bit xx

I'm sorry I haven't been contributing lately. Life seems to run away with me for weeks at a time, but I'm back in again, so thank you for the lists Natty and Valli.(((Hugs))) for YL, Piggers and Meem, Fayolle, ASB, Kazw and Narco. You are all magnificent.Kazw, I'm sorry to say that Devil Cat had the same problem with his eye as yours. It's always heartbreaking, but those last few months were very precious. Belovéd absolutely adored him and I know he still misses the little chap, no matter how deeply the three year old 'kittens' embed themselves in our hearts.Nmm that is a seriously fab boat. Happy sailing, and being a sea gypsy. The house has been incredibly busy for the past couple of months and I've been hard pressed to stay anywhere near on top of things. In fact, I've toppled over things several times and there are areas that I'm just not willing to even look at any more. One person stayed on the futon in my office for a fortnight and I've never been so happy to get the room back. It took me all day to catch up on paperwork and today's the first day I've had time to think. The WM has been going hell for leather and the final piece is still drying on the line, a sofa cover that needs to be clean when our ex-neighbours who gave it to us about five years ago come to stay at the end of the month. It's the animal's preferred sofa so it was a teensy bit grubby.Better is good enough.10

Well today hasn't gone quite to plan. I have cleaned the kitchen and washed out the black bin with the floor mopping water. It's now drying. Normally I would have used the water to mop the bathroom floor first, but as the neighbour were having the hedge cut I decided to trim back the bit that overhangs my garden as much as poss, so figured I would need a shower. How right I was.

Evening folks sorry I have been missing. Thanks for the threads Natty & Valli x
I have been busy with DS2 and applying for jobs. I have an assessment for a job tomorrow and I have been told it will take 1.5 hours. I think it involves an interview too. I will have to change my shoes when I’m near as I wore then to a jobs fair and they gave me a large blister which hasn’t healed.
I have also been washing all my mattress covers, dressing gowns and anything that will need the hot weather to dry.
I rang the council this morning as they had sent me a new bill for dancegran’s house, to be told probate went through last week. I emailed the solicitor and he said he was surprised to hear this as the court hadn’t told him. Did decisions to be made this week.

Good evening 🙂
I had a fairly productive day yesterday. We have chosen & ordered a new bedroom carpet. Fitting is booked for 11/10, so we have a deadline to work to. DH has the last 2 weeks of Sept off, so we know what he will be doing! 😂 I need to get a quote for moving a radiator in DD2's old room, and possibly ours too. We have a large bay window, but I was thinking of 2 small radiators in the bay instead of taking up wall space by the door 🤔
Paid stuff today - had a new little one today. She was fine this morning, but I think it was a long first day for her. I think she will settle in ok 👌 I dead headed some shrubs while they were playing in the garden 😂
Tomorrow I need to phone re boiler insurance - no hot water today, and they have ignored the email I sent! I will also need to put out a food bin for the bin men. The foxes have worked out how to open the bins, so it will have to be done in the morning.
Hugs, stick & spoons to those that need them. Night night all!8 -
Today didn't quite go to plan here either.
We had all these grand plans and then the loo started leaking shpoop and body fluids through my kichen ceiling... The seal had cracked in the waste pipe so we had to rip out the loo and rip up the floor. A trip to BnQ £40 (mostly on half dead hydrangeas and geraniums) including the £3.49 part we actually needed!
Watered the garden.
Loaded DW
Loaded both washing machines with the contaminated stuff from the worksurface.. I need to clear the rest of the top tomorrow.. thankfully the lak was far enough from the cooker it was still safe to make food once I had cleaned up as best I could.
a wheelie bin filled with recycling, filled a binbag with contaminated gibble..
Pack ups sorted.
We joined the library.. the book club requires books and I am NOT buying a 6 book series..
Shoes foundBeasts bathed with a LOT of screaming!I got 3 items listed
PE bags to sortUniforms to findTwinkles shoes need finding.. I forgot about those..
I don't feel like I have achieved anything even vaguely useful today. OH is at work tomorrow so I will get very little done and probably nothing useful.

woke up warm and thirsty. am now in dr with patio door open eating an ice lolly - thus killing 2 birds...eyes sore no doubt due to garden work in this heat.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Oh no Pigpen a leaking toilet was the last thing you needed, and homeschooling is hard, I couldnt do it when DS was poorly but I am sure you are doing better than you think.
Long day at the paid stuff Monday, out last night with my cycling group. DS1 is living here unofficially, not sure what his plans are, he seems a bit fragile so I am trying to just be there for him and not ask too many questions.
House is reasonably clean and tidy. I am supposed to be in the office today but my new oven is being delivered so I am working from home whether work like it or not! Just put a load of washing on, it's stuffy in the house so I have flung windows open.
Yoga class done, coffee next, then shower, breakfast, and on with the paid stuff.8 -
Sorry to hear about the leaking toilet, pigpen - not pleasant, and just another thing to add to your stress. Please don't give up on the home schooling for Squeak just yet. Private education is an enormous financial commitment, and you'd be amazed how many "extras" you are expected to pay for, especially at secondary level. I used to teach in an independent prep school, and I remember all too clearly how many families put their children under enormous duress to get a place in the one LA secondary school which selected pupils via an entrance exam, because they could no longer afford to pay school fees. Get in touch with the LA schools which you would be happy for Squeak to attend, and ask them to put her on their waiting lists in case a place in her year group is vacated by someone moving out of the area - there's always a chance!
Today I have had a better start, having slept until 5.30 despite the stuffiness of my bedroom - having to keep the windows closed in this weather is not my idea of comfort. Fortunately the study is still cool.
I rang the Dr yesterday and received a blood test form by email. I called the booking line just after 8.00 this morning; it only took 20 minutes for me to get through, and I was given a choice of appointment times at our local outpatients' centre on Friday of next week. Wonders will never cease!
I have sorted some of my paperwork and my office looks slightly tidier than it did yesterday, which also helps my stress levels. Now, if I could just get this application form for the new bank account filled in...
In flying news, whilst making my first cuppa, I emptied and scrubbed out the compost waste bin that lives in the under-sink cupboard, emptied the DW which had run last night, and am now running it with cleaner, as the plumbing was a bit gluggy.
Hope everyone has a good day xx11
