Tax credits renewal & 16 year old

It's such a user unfriendly system - it must create so much work and duplication of effort when people have to make contact to clarify decision notices.
My account shows my Post16 child is now no longer on my claim - I had sent notification in April, and had email confirmation of receipt, of them staying in full time education
My renewal is now showing as it will be finalised by 30 November (I submitted middle May and original date was middle July, then 7th September)
Hoping it all sorts itself out......Groceries: Personal Spend: 0 NST NSD Goals for 2025:Self: Health: Wealth :0 -
Not really worth updating now given that Tax Credits will have disappeared in a few years time (according to the plan). We could have a different discussion about how user friendly or not UC is!bizzie said:It's such a user unfriendly system -Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. I have informed Tax Credits that my eldest is staying on further education a few months back, but my payment dropped yesterday and when I went to look at future payments on government gateway website there is no sign of returning to back to normal payments. So do I chase up or wait?0

Same situation here.jojaca said:I have informed Tax Credits that my eldest is staying on further education a few months back, but my payment dropped yesterday and when I went to look at future payments on government gateway website there is no sign of returning to back to normal payments. It's really not helpful, especially when you have a budget to work out.

My payments dropped last year and this year with a child going into 6th form, I think it is unlikely they will go back up to previous amounts. It's just the way the system works - which isn't helpful for those that rely on CTC.Memphis-Belle_2 said:

Yeah I know they may drop, but mine are still showing the amounts as if my son is leaving education. So I'm currently down several hundred pounds.annabanana82 said:

I'm just hoping it will update in the next few days.0 -
Hoping if there are at least a few of us in this situation it is a system issue, rather than personal, and will correct itself/catch-up within the next payment cycle without having to contact them.Groceries: Personal Spend: 0 NST NSD Goals for 2025:Self: Health: Wealth :0

I have the same problem, it looks like they are treating my son as if he's left education. My payments should have gone up slightly but they've gone down overall by over half of the amount they pay for one child element (which would be correct if my son was leaving education but he's not).Memphis-Belle_2 said:

I think that I'll have to wait until I get the amended tax credits notice before I can contact them anyway. It'll get sorted out, I'm sure

Lost £50 this week due to this system. I don't think the supermarket will take an IOU in payment. HMRC just tell to wait or visit the job centre.0

They are also treating me as if my child has left education, I would be losing £250 a month. This currently puts me in a position of struggling to break even every month. I do not have many areas where I can cut back on apart from food and my only real luxury is Sky TV which has about 6 months left to run.0
