I take it you haven’t driven in U.K. lately given that I’d say 40% of U.K. drivers met that description!

Yes indeed I rather think they would given the light was obscured.

As I’ve said many posters here probably thought the teacher’s pet was too rebellious.
    Because your logic sucks.

Oh - I ran over your child because the lights were obscured.

I haven't visited this since you posted your photo. I can only say that if you continued at speed alongside the bus in your photo, you may get away with jumping a red light if it was obscured. What you would not get away with - especially if you struck a pedestrian emerging from behind the front of the bus  - would be careless driving. There are clear indications, even if no lights are visible, that there is a need for caution. There is what looks like the pedestrians' push button mounted on the post and a dropped kerb with tactile paving. In fact, that entire area of pavement (not visible in your photograph) is furnished with tactile paving across its full width because there seems to be some sort of footpath exit (denoted by a break in the wall). There is also a clear "Stop" line on the road in front of the red car (who seems to have noticed it). In the Goggle Streetview photo that line is quite clear and the photo is only nine months old. A competent and careful driver would have noticed some or all of this and would have been prepared to stop, whether there was a red light visible or not. To simply plough on in those circumstances is not what a competent and careful driver would do.

It's not clear what is mounted on the posts but nothing looks like a red light camera so I imagine you will be OK.
