Red light

I  was driving a small firms combi van   right behind a lorry. As we approached some lights   he was about 30 yard in front  on the right going straight  i was on the left as i was turning left after the lights.  The lights had turned red just after the lorry had passed   but the lights on the right were obscured by the lorry  but the ones on the left were visible  however  the lights are completely burried by an overgrown tree,s foliage and it is impossible to see. So i didnt see the red light on the right until i was through  .  There is a black box on top  and im certain i went through on red     .  Will.i have any case in defence to say my vision was blocked and that the light on my side   was totally obscured. 8 have 5aken .photos and a video to show the light obscured.   Any advice

The black box won't be a red light camera.

Didn't you see the amber lights?

Let's see some of these photos to show the overgrowth...

I'm quite intrigued, though, as to how you could see the light on the right after you'd passed it.

As mentioned, it seems unlikely the device you saw was a camera.

However, in case it was, were there no other indications that you were approaching a set of traffic lights? If I recall, there is usually a "Stop" line painted in the road and often some repeater lights on the far side of the junction. If there were such indications it is incumbent on you to drive carefully and to be prepared to stop if necessary.  It's difficult to say without seeing photographs, but I find it hard to understand how the only indication that you were approaching traffic lights was the set of lights you could not see because of the trees. As Adrian asks, how do you believe you passed on red when you could see neither set of lights and these were the only indication you had that lights were present? In fact, how do you know there were lights there at all because those on the right were obscured by the lorry and those on the left were obscured by the trees.

as you can see the bus is obstructing the light on the right  i wss in the left lane   you can  just  see a tiny  green light on the left  in between the leaves of the overgrown tree   when thst goes red  you cant see  nothing         As gor seeing the red light  it only became apparent as i passed the tree .   As the inside lane was clear   ..and no one was standing close by

On the contrary. There is a Stop line, preceded by zig-zag markings (albeit worn) which indicate a pedestrian crossing.

Regardless of anything else you ought to report the problem to the council. If it's as bad as you say you might save a life.
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.

@gilly501 Agree with NSG666 Send your photo to your council's Road Traffic Partnership - highlight also the road markings

Any chance of seeing that from the eyeline of a driver. not a pedestrian?

There's two cars in that pic who don't seem to have any issues seeing the amber light that's just visible through the leaves.

The road marking to show the traffic light stop line is also clearly visible in that pic, so it's not as if you didn't know there was a traffic light.

That might be difficult without standing crouched in the middle of the road
