Do you have a "plan B" if you test positive whilst in Greece and can't fly home? What accommodation to the Greek authorities place you in? Does your travel insurance cover this?
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -

Refund received from TUI hazzuh! Able to pay another chunk off Simply Be which was great news. (had to give some to the boyf too as was his money as well, he has already paid off one debt for me so I need to do this as much as possible on my own. But he is being super supportive and doing all food shops etc)

Hello Wannabes
Happy Friday!!
Heavy spend day yesterday with travel insurance and covid tests pre holiday so that felt painful. I am due £60 of that money back from my Bro in law as I picked up some of his tests too.
I did get some cash from the lodgers today though so that was good and sold a bag on ebay (£60) and have another £100 that I am owed, all should be with me by end of next week.
The next pending doom is my car has an issue and is booked in for Monday so I am waiting to hear the damage on that next week.
Chilled low spend weekend planned might have another jacket potato weekend
Have a great weekend to all

Bad news car would be around £1500 to fix which is worth more than the car plus there would be further repairs likely needed to suspension and exhaust. It looks like its going to car heaven.
This is going to impact my debt free journey which is sad, I am currently in discussion with OH on best way forward. He is likely to front the cost for me of a new car and I will have to pay him back. (it was inheritance money). Replacing one debt for another.
Really feeling like a blow that I will be adding a new debt to list.

I'm in the same boat with getting my car fixed as my OH is paying for it and I'm paying back. Far better than a payday loan or paying via Credit Card

Hi All,
Thanks @jadewest94 for the kind words!
So I managed to pick my car up from the garage with paying just for the small bit of labour they did. £120. It drove home and off to the shop that day. Then when I went to go to my second job yesterday it had finally given up! urrrgg.
Its being collected for scrap in a few weeks time £232 (at least pays for the labour)
Additionally I have borrowed off my OH for a new (used) car. I collect on Friday, I did a lot of research on the most reliable hatchbacks as I would really like to get as much time out of it as possible. I am very please with it so hoping it will last as the reviews and research suggested.
I have a potential new lodger viewing the annex today, if she is happy with the place she will move in October - That will mean that my half of that income can go straight to OH to chip away at the car loan and my normal income can carry on getting rid of my debt. Fingers crossed she says yes.
The extra loan has stung a little and I did consider no car unfortunately public transport is challenging where we are, yesterday for job 2 I got a taxi there and back which was £20 - I only get £30 for yesterdays work so cutting in a bit. Bus routes are terrible and when office life returns in October it would be 2 buses to nearest train station etc.
Anyway its been a stressful and disappointing few days. but I am excited to get the car tomorrow it really is the nicest car I have ever had, and then I will be on holiday for a few weeks so hopefully the stress will melt away a bit.
Hoping to feel a bit more positive tomorrow,
All the best
Rigarella
