Day 2 test after return to the UK from Amber country - any good ones? any evidence of a price cap?

Thanks.
I will contact 119 bit in the mean time I have to isolate which is inconvenient.
Regarding the refund, I will contact my bank as I paid with a credit card. I'll do what I can to get the transaction overturned0 -
If you are fully vaccinated and returning from an Amber country you do not need to self isolate .71peyman71 said:Thanks.

For those who have to isolate for 10 days, you are not released from the obligation to isolate until the end of day 10 and having received a negative PCR test result from your day 8 test.onashoestring said:

Thanks. That's a relief as I am fully vaccinated but clearly confused over the rules!onashoestring said:

There is no logic but it is perfectly within the rules. There is no required turn around for the day 2 tests nor does it matter to the traveller when they come back (if at all actually).fwil said:
"I ordered the tests from abroad on the Sunday and they were waiting for me when I got home on Tuesday. I posted it back Wednesday and the result came back to me 8 days later. Slow certainly but it didn’t make any difference."
im arranging day 2 tests for arrival in UK next week. Struggling to see the logic of tests that can take 8 days to arrive with results? Not expected to quarantine so by that time any damage is done if result was positive or am I missing something?0 -
Regardless of what they put in their contract, do you not still have a statutory right that any product you order must be 'fit for purpose'? And to me, a day 2 test that does not arrive by day 2 is not fit for purpose!onashoestring said:Phone 119, they will advise and probably send you a home test kit .
Regarding a refund from Expert Medicals , their T&Cs state
We operate a strict no refund and returns policy with no exceptions.
2.7 Time is not of the essence in this contract and Expert Medicals do not accept any responsibility or liability for any losses arising if the test result is not provided to you within your required timescale, which may have been stipulated by third parties. Please note any such time frames are subject to privity of contract, between you and the third party, and to which Expert Medicals are therefore not bound.Plus the company will know when day 2 is, as you provide your travel dates when you order - so they could refuse to supply if it's beyond their logistical capabilities.
IANAL, but I'd also argue that any contract for services that are inherently and legally time-sensitive, that then goes on to say that time is not of the essence, could be on pretty shaky ground if tested in court...?0 -
At least one I know of that comments regularly here runs his own travel company. I shan't name him/her as it wouldn't be fair to them as they let me know in confidence.Deleted_User said:
It's part of the cost of international travel if you're a UK citizen. A test will cost you 20-30 euros in Greece, to give just one example (given the OP is going there).MattMattMattUK said:£68 is pretty much as cheap as they get in most circumstances, it is just part of the cost of international travel at the moment and should be factored in, just like hotel, flight, food, drink, other transport, etc. costs.
I have to admit I find it a bit mystifying the way so many people on here (a money saving forum) seem to instinctively defend the pricing whenever this gets discussed. It's been an obvious rip off from day one and they've only now cut the price and started to talk seriously about regulation when they should have been doing it months ago.
As an aside, I'm a member of another (financial based) forum. It took me more than a year to realise that there were people commenting there who were trying to influence behavior as opposed to making innocent comments about their experiences. I'm not saying that is going on here but I would always be slightly cautious before assuming someone is making a comment purely to be helpful (most do but not always...)1 -
I was astonished that these private labs didn’t require UKAS accreditation until recently. That should be an essential for any lab undertaking work of clinical value. I guess 99.9% of people don’t know what it is, though.0

Apparently the government website does not state that the Day 2 test must be a PCR test. See this article.
I tried to find the relevant section on the Govt website but it has so far eluded me as there are so many rabbit holes on it to disappear down!0 -
Your reading a Sun article that talks about the test to return and confusing it with the day 2 tests you take once you are back.bashful said:Apparently the government website does not state that the Day 2 test must be a PCR test. See this article.
