Day 2 test after return to the UK from Amber country - any good ones? any evidence of a price cap?

@silvercar thanks.I’m sure it’ll be ok if not possibly we won’t need to test in October? What gets me is you’re far more lightly too catch Covid in the UK than Tenerife, they waiver the test if we are double vaccinated, should be the same coming back to England. I wonder how many Tory MP’s have interests in these testing companies? So if we do ring 119 if the unlikelihood the testing kit doesn’t arrive are you saying the NHS will send us a test kit ?
Thanks0 -
Yes, if your test doesn't arrive ring 119. If you phone on day 2 they will often say to wait a day or so, phone on day 3 and they generally say they will send you an NHS PCR in the post. They will also make a note that you have not been able to comply with the rules because your test hasn't arrived, so beyond your control. Hopefully they are also noting which testing companies are not supplying within agreed timescales.
As for you being more likely to catch covid in the UK than Tenerife, to a certain extent that depends on your lifestyle when at home compared to on holiday eg more work contacts at home, more eating outdoors on holiday vs someone who is clubbing in Playa, taking country walks in the UK. Even if you are just looking at the raw data and Tenerife having a lower covid rate than your part of the UK, the tests are designed to stop new variants spreading in the UK. If you caught covid in the UK, 98% chance it would be the delta variant, if you caught covid in abroad, in some countries the beta variant is more widespread; we really don't want that to take a hold in the UK. Nor do we want any new variants brought into the country.

NWP Online say £40 for fully vaccinated 2 day test, can return by post as far as I can make out.I’m guessing if the tester messes up the postage or loses the test it doesn’t matter a jot as the passenger locator form has the ID code for the test. ( I wonder what happens if we put any old number on the form! ? )

Has anyone tried NWP? I tried to call them but there is no reply on the number they provide.
Is there any test provider that allows 3 tests to be bough in the same transaction? That's for one adult and 2 children. Or do I have to go through the purchase process 3 times?0 -
on the boots website I purchased two tests in one go0

Not sure what you mean, cases are higher here in England than Tenerife so the odds are you’re more likely to catch COVID in England. Fact Not Myth.Thrugelmir said:

Check out the following: expert-medicals.co.uk/collections/navigation
Fully Vaccinated Amber Arrivals -Day 2 Test (home kit) £28.00; this is the lowest price I have found and this is who I'll be ordering for our September trip.

Not great reviews although some people are happy, seems someone had to pay extra for the postage?VKE said:Check out the following: expert-medicals.co.uk/collections/navigation

Seven day average cases per 100,000 in the Canary Islands are about 120, compared to roughly 300 in the UK. Also the lifestyle for people on holiday in Tenerife is much more geared to being outside in terms of eating, drinking, entertainment etc, where there is little to no risk of catching Covid.NickRno77 said:

Also depends on each countries testing regime - in the UK we test more than most other countries.
There are other factors at play such as plane travel to get there (the air filtering is pretty good) and hanging about at the airport etc, but in general the risk seems lower over there than here.

I ordered a Fit to Fly PCR and a Day 2 PCR for my Hungary trip. They were £40 each, sent first class and came the following day. I’ll send both back by next day special delivery.71peyman71 said:NickRno77 said:I’ve been investigating this today, I’m going to Tenerife in October. Or do I have to go through the purchase process 3 times? They say that you have to do each order under a separate transaction to generate different codes etc. This was fine as it was just me but could see how it would be pretty annoying if you’re ordering for multiple people. Postage was free so it made no difference to the cost.0
