Can anyone recommend two low value DDs for me to qualify for the above???

charities like PDSA, Amnesty, UNICEF taking £1 DD

onepoundd shows on M&S within 1-2 days, and can be used twice with a date of 20th Sept.

This is ideal for anyone with lapsed DDs now realising they can do a last minute switch away from M&S to NW as long as they initiate, not necessarily complete, the switch by the afternoon of 31st August.
  • Hi, apologies if this has been asked before, i just can't seem to find this info online. Earlier this year I took advantage of the HSBC switching bribe and switched from my Natwest account, I received the £125 bribe and all went surprisingly smoothly

I've never held a Nationwide account so this latest £100 switch bribe looks temping. Would i be eligible for this offer if I switch from the the HSBC account, considering I only used the switching service less than 12 months ago?

Also would my original Natwest direct debits be re-routed again to the new Nationwide account given they were re-routed to the HSBC account only a few months ago (i.e. Natwest > HSBC > Nationwide)

Thanks in advance for any help/advice

    Joe

If the terms of the HSBC offer don't require you to keep the account open after the incentive is paid, then yes you can switch again. I'd also potentially consider opening a Nationwide savings account first followed by your new current account a few days later, so you qualify for the higher switch bonus as an "existing customer".

In any case, any currently set up DDs on your NatWest account which were switched to your HSBC account will also be switched to Nationwide, as long as you haven't since cancelled them. In theory any payments into your NatWest account should also be forwarded on, as they will be forwarded to your HSBC account and then in turn to Nationwide - I've not tested something like this before but I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work as long as it hasn't been more than 3 years since the switch completed.

I've just set up a water direct debit to come out on the 7th. Do I need to apply for a switch with Nationwide after this date or fill out the switch now. And then request a switch after th 7th?
You would probably be ok applying for the switch now, but personally I am going to wait until after each DD has been taken at least once from my donor account before even applying for a switch. Just removes any doubt.
I started the process of switching early, as just in case they pull the offer. I actioned it to go through after both direct debits had been processed, which would be around the 17th.
Does the switch just need to complete after the DD payments have been taken or should the switch not start until after the DD payments?
I'm not taking any chances and have set the switch to start after the 2 dd's have been taken.

Can anyone recommend two low value DDs for me to qualify for the above???

In addition to @PRAISETHESUN's suggestions, if you have an S+S ISA, you may be able to pay the monthly management fee (or part therof, if you prefer) by dd.

Also some Post Office Savings Accounts support regular deposits by DD, but several people have reported issues when trying to withdraw money from such accounts (although it has always worked fine for me).

You can also play the National Lottery by DD, if you're that way inclined.

Flex Direct has always paid a good interest in the first year. (unless you have had one previously)

The interest rate doesn't show in the app, like savings accounts
Thank you, that's what I wanted to hear.
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

I used to have many PO Savings account (multiple ones from different issues I opened over the course of a few years) - they worked fine at first but eventually some of them wouldn't let me make withdrawals from them anymore. Eventually I closed them in favour of accounts with BM and Scottish Widows (no longer available to new applicants).

They work well in a pinch and are quick(ish) to open online, but their customer service is horrible/non-existent. I certainly wouldn't recommend using them to hold any substantial amount of savings.

ok so I opened my nationwide account last week and initiated the switch, I put the switch date was 2nd of sept which I thought would give me enough time to setup 2 direct debits, these direct debits both paid out yesterday on my donor account, my nationwide internet banking details arrived today in the post so logged into the app and to my surprise these 2 direct debits are already appearing in the nationwide account, I didnt think they switched payments/direct debits etc until the switch date, so basically im wondering if I will now miss out on the free £100 as it looks like these 2 direct debits might have been switched prior to paying out so would make them unactive? does anyone know if this is the case? this would be pretty annoying if so
