Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 5 - Trying to recover from the pandemic

Morning all
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm feeling a bit delicate this morning as I had a gin afternoon out with bestie yesterday. It has been on the cards for a long time but we finally got around to arranging it and going yesterday. By sheer luck it happened to coincide with bestie being offered a new job so we could turn it into a whole big celebration. She has a really toxic boss at the moment who has basically eroded all of her self confidence and self esteem and turned her into someone with as little self belief as I have. She's never experienced this before and it's been awful to see her suffering with anxiety and migraines for months. But she was pretty much head hunted for her new role and I couldn't be more chuffed for her. So we started with lunch in a Lebanese restaurant and then moved off to a gin shop with a little bar in it and did loads of gin tasting. We're very opposite in our tastes - she was going for herby and peppery flavours, and I was going for pink and fruity. I tried sherbet lemon, sherbet orange, pink mermaid, pineapple and passion fruit. Ended up bringing home a bottle of the passion fruit gin to add to my collection as well. After gin we went off to a cocktail bar where I filled myself up on white Russians before we got the bus home to be judged by our children I won ultimately though because she was in bed and asleep by 8pm and I didn't go to bed until 11pm.
Thankfully today's plans are a little quieter. DD wants me to drive her to the walk in centre so she can get her vaccination - she got the letter yesterday. And I think that I need to stock up on goodies from frozen food shops to feed my children so will do that while we're out too. I have almost finished my 30 days of crochet blanket (I'm onto the border) so hoping that might be done soon. Borders are deceptive - you think 'Oh only 6 rounds' but when a round has over 1000 stitches they take a while. 
Also really need to make a start on some exam related work that I have been repeatedly procrastinating about and putting off doing. And I have the dreaded vet appointment with NT1 later as well. I feel quite stressed out about that.
Anyway, I'm having a cuppa and a catch up on here and then I'm going to have a shower and get dressed.

Another long time lurker here and really like reading your diary. Also am mad about cats and have 2 very unaffectionate cats but still love them.! They cheer me up even when they are mean!

Well done on winning the 1st inaugural Drunk Mum's Race - perhaps you could move it to the night of parents' evening?

I love both Lebonease food and Gin, sounds like a great day. Very pleased your friend is starting a new job and what a morale booster to be headhunted.

I hope the trip to the vets is less traumatic than you fear.

You are attracting lots of cat ladies to your diary 🐈‍⬛. Another one here…the most we’ve had in one go was 8, but due to old age and some illness we are down to 5 now (and a large dog). I am very tempted to add a kitten as it’s 6 years since we’ve had a kitten in the house. I have everything crossed for your senior fur baby.
I read your update and was so impressed at your fighting and gaining the house and pension. I was so worn down I didn’t fight mine and lost half of everything (including the house which was in my name and only I paid for and my (used to be) very good pension) meaning I had to start again. 

I also much prefer the fruity gins!
