Crusty Bread

A little tip that I have just discovered (well just realised ;D) for those who like crusty rolls or crusty bread with their soup, lasagne etc.
A pack of 4 crusty rolls costs upwards of 80p, a crusty loaf is either 78p (small Warburtons) or 91p (Hovis) in our local shop, but a French stick is only 42p and you get over 2 feet length of the stuff! Choose a broad, shorter one rather than the longest, which will be thinner, and you can get a couple of dozen slices off it.
The only drawback is that it needs eating within a couple of days or it dries up, but then so do crusty rolls. You can also make any left over after the first day into garlic bread, and freeze it.
For a light snack in the morning, if you don't like to eat much first thing, have 3 or 4 slices off it, with spreadable cream cheese and low fat spread. Total cost about 10p, and very tasty!

if you put a french loaf in a hot oven for 5 mins or so then slice its lovely crunchy outside and soft inside
also do this with stale rolls or french bread0 -

Well worth doing 160............
I've refreshed lots of stale bread many times with this method..........you can use the micro-wave too, but only a few seconds or it gets chewy.
If it's really stale (ie bluemold) cut your losses and bin it or feed it to the birds!

Best way is to soak a t-towel in water, ring it out and wrap it round the french stick or stale bread then pop in oven.0
