Richard_T_ said:do you still need a MAC code? You haven't needed one since 2015.These days if you move provider you just pick somebody and sign up. They'll do all the work, you speaketh not to the losing provider. The only exception is if you're going to/from Virgin. But for BT line to BT lines, you say nowt.0

As mentioned in a different thread I've got a suspicion that there may be better deals come October and beyond if you can hold out.Richard_T_ said:Im also in the same boat, just out of contract with plusnet, with no issues - been with plusnet for quite some time ( since 2005 )however, my loyalty is only as good as my last deal- Vodafone - £22/month -

Openreach are in talks with ofcom at the moment with the intention of significantly reducing the cost of their wholesale fibre offering which should bring prices down if it goes ahead in October. There is opposition though from the other fibre suppliers who believe it will disadvantage them.0 - Vodafone - £22/month -

thanks, i can hold out for a little while on the out of contract price, as it is its some mark up on "in contract" dealsFTTP is available in my area, however its somewhat more expensive and as far as speed etc goes it offers me no benefit over FTTC which chugs along fine and with no issues .upgrading to FTTP would just mean paying more for something that i wouldn't useI have had zero issues with plusnet over the years and apart from one time i have only contacted them at renewal to say other ISPs are cheaper -which they have then price matched0

Realistically when will that be? if an announcement is due in October then it could be months/years even more so if the isps decide to go through the court as with the roll out of 4G/5G

The plan has already been announced, they've had to go through a 90 day consultation process with Ofcom, so the planned date of the offer is 1st Oct. Clearly it may take a bit of time for any price reduction to filter down from the ISPs to the end customer (if at all) but I don't imagine it to be that long.Richard_T_ said:neilmcl said:

They sent me an email with the exact same deal (£21.99 for 18 months with £50 cash back). I have set my contact preferences as email only so they can’t call me but I will give them a call tomorrow to see if they discount BT sports app otherwise I will continue with my switch.lloydyyy said:Since placing an order with Vodafone, Plusnet have made a better offer - £21.99/month over 12 months with no cashback, 18 months with £50 cashback or 24 months with £75 cashback. The cashback is guaranteed - it'll be sent to me as a cheque. I'll stay with Plusnet as the service has been solid and my BT Smart Hub 6 provides great Wi-Fi coverage around the house. Just can't decide on a contract length.0 -
Would there likely be any benefit for someone like me, who only has FTTC as an option? My contract with Sky is up for renewal next month - is it worth holding back until early October to see what happens with the OfCom consultation?neilmcl said:

There maybe some knock on effect on their FTTC pricing but I doubt it particularly as they're actively encouraging customers to get onto the fibre service where they can. That doesn't mean that you can't get a good renewal deal via the traditional haggling route or simply move ISPs for a better offer.geraint83 said:

Now Broadband (I know they're run through Sky), for example are offering their 63Mb product plus evening and weekend calls for only £22pm plus potentially £100 cashback from Quidco/Topcashback, you could try them if you're happy with the Sky service as it'll be the same or simply use them as a stick to get Sky to reduce their offer.0
