I would assume you'll have to replace the boiler and budget accordingly when you buy. Three out of four times I've had to and the fourth was a nice surprise!4

I subtly reminded main client today how many £££££££s I saved thru my checks last time .. I have asked for what I need right now moving forward each month. First tranche should arrive tomorrow.
Did my last class tonight ... such a great teacher and I am really using what I have learnt in it. Even today on the work call, I feel very much updated with current software and understand how to figure them out to best use them for a company's clarity and advantage .. I feel my day rate throttling ever upwards.
Planning to now use one of the new softwares in the new project I need to do.
AND I have a laminated certificate!
Already signed up for a new (free again) class starting in 2 weeks - more tech stuff , got to keep on learning - I have just followed the teacher in what he is teaching ...as figure its all useful..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if the monies from main client did actually arrive steadily and that became your three months proof of earnings for your mortgage application… 😉 I sincerely hope that something appropriate turns up today!Good point about upping your day rate as you skill up. Hadn’t thought of that 😊

Had a fun night out yesterday after our final class - where I gave some advice to someone on their career (creative) and next forward steps - they had asked me a few weeks ago for my advice (so it was not unsolicited) and sent me some unasked for links, and reminded me tonight so I had chance to give my opinion in the pub.... - gave them some new ideas, brainstormed, encouraged them to go for it... so many peoples careers got stopped/stymied during covid (inc mine) and getting started again seems hard - we all need a gentle reminder at times how fabulous we are and how only we can 'start our engines' -
Someone else said later that they could see how supportive I was in that moment, but when they first met me in class they had assumed I was very different, v (too) confident in class and maybe quite 'selfish' - but it was clear now how much I stood up for others and was not what they had assumed initially.
I wasnt offended - more amused, confident women of any age still seem to rock some people especially coming from 'traditional' cultures as the person speaking did ( i hadnt judged them but it seems there was initial unconscious bias on their part) .. i know who I am and how I support others whilst also having a great career. I just take my space calmly, I dont beg for it. nor yell but I do take my space, no more no less.
Its the great thing about London with so many different cultures here - we all study, work, live in this amazing place and human to human we all get to know each other as fellow humans, so these divisions these politicians use to get votes (skin colour, origin, religion, gender, sexuality) are frustrating to watch as well as dangerous.
However in the middle ages I would have probably been burnt at some stake. ... (*no past life regression for me!)
Soup!
I roasted a chicken Wednesday so made a stock yesterday and now am making a chickpea and pinto bean extravaganza soup, with coconut milk, onions, mushrooms, loads diff veg from freezer inc cauli, borccoli, peppers, sprouts,, chilli, coriander, lime, cumin seeds. Also added the last few chicken bits.
I will blend it and add some fresh more lime juice and coriander - I may also fry up some pancetta and mushrooms in lots of coconut oil to serve as a 'topper' - will report back
I am making lots of soup/stews as helps me keep warm.
I am out all day tomorrow and need to take food so a flask of good soup will keep me warm.
Still waiting on my fan (Monday) but I am now closing the door to my lounge/kitchen so the heat staying in better.
Gym I cancelled yesterday as I could not get it all done and was meant to go at 8am but so cold outside, so started work early and pushed gym to late this afternoon - just 20 min session so
Waiting for some money today so I can do the YNAB dance

Glad your trip went well although really miffed for you having to fork out for the boiler! But i totally agree with not wanting to be cold. I am quite a warm person so don't get cold much but when i do it's the most depressing thing ever.

Your boiler woes are giving me PTSDWe have been in our current home for 9 years and 4 months and have been unfortunate enough to require two new boilers in that time (despite dropping what was big money on a fancy Vaillant one the first time round). Somewhere in the region of £6,000 spent, plus at least £2,000 on repairs and servicing in that time. If someone had told me when I was renting that I might end up paying the equivalent of £75/mth just on having a functioning boiler, I might have rented for a bit longer!Loving your "London life" comments, a wee bit of vicarious living never hurts until we win the lottery.6
