Whaaaaatt? 80% rise on rent???? Is that even legal?
😂😂😂 at ”needing a break from the excels”
I do love a good spreadsheet but I was all excel’led out today too28/12/24
Deep savings: £14,492.28/£20,000.00
Mortgage balance: £157,183.78
MFW #53 £7.66/£10,000.002 -
I am paying more than most rent wise as mine went up £500pm 18months ago but looks like it would have been a minimum £300 extra per month for me again on top , more likely £500 extra for me PLUS they will no doubt hike it up in April...
@beanielou @PenniesIntoPounds its awful for people, they have already made some homeless. However there are a fair few of us now committed to fighting for the good - just call us superwomen ..;)
Looking forward to the heat and sunshine on the other end of this flight..;)
WINS today
Wins 1
I wandered thru Duty free and only bought a coffee....
I did look at some fabulous reduced Swarows** rings and some new perfume.. and I do need a small eye shadow ,... and I have not yet picked up an electric toothbrush BUT I reminded my self I do need to buy an actual home in the next 6-18 months ... which is costing £425,000-£475,000/£500k .. so every penny I dont spend every day now is a penny less I need to borrow (and pay back with interest)
I have effectively spent money by extending my stay by a couple days as I will be out on Friday etc there with the friend I am staying with for the last 2 days but this is chosen small spend.. and I am not planning to buy anything (clothes etc) .. there will be 2 lunches and one dinner out probably ..However I am missing a big friends bday night out in London Saturday so will be flat spend given the forex diff as well.
WINS 2 - Contacted a store to delay my clickn collect and checked in buying it I extended my comp win gift card - result
WINS 3 I can see the merry band of community go-getters are hard at work moving things forward whilst I am on a plane - so helpful we all together doing this as a community so not all in one persons hands
Wins 4 - done an important piece of admin as well on the plane - this $35 wifi charge is being well spent
Wins 5 - did 2 calls/emails re moving a project forward and moving my dr HRT appt - it is so hard to get one and I finally got one week of Xmas when I was a way and then this week when I am away...
Wins - been refusing to dive into the US politics issues and read all the stressful press headlines - not my circus, not my monkeys... however upsetting it seems to be, I can only control my actions, thoughts and beliefs - I need to focus on moving La Plans life forward right now and keep chanting the American people can protect their democracy.
I dont know if anyone has seen the brilliant The Apprentice movie that premiered in Cannes 2024 - so worth seeing especially now...
FOCUS
Unbelievably focused on my excels and work on this long haul flight - if it wasnt for cost and carbon footprint I could just do my remote work on longhaul flight planes only - I need to see how I can create more of this environment at home - also helps someone is bringing me food and drinks as requested
I do have the whats app live as well but am able to just glance at them, have a quick coffee/snack and get back to the s/sheets.
This was the flight post that was stuck in draftsDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

I do love a good spreadsheet but I was all excel’led out today tooI love an excel - probably why I love YNAB so much - structured play time
my condo is high and overlooks the seasunny here 25 degrees … balcony as well but no direct sunshine - feeling the sun on my bare arms today as I wander around in a summer light dress was gorgeous, especially having had my boiler off ..
the condo is also uber modern - the giant flat screen tv is in a architectural dark wood frame which can swivel so you can watch tv from either the bed or the lounge
Too modern and perfect for me -but it also has a gorgeous walk in wardrobe space with rails, shelves, drawers .. this I could take home
I am reminded as always how wonderful a clean modern uncluttered space is - more motivation to get rid of some stuff at home - got to get past the sunk cost fallacy and memories of dresses /things
the finish here is amazing as well - walk in huge shower, gorgeous bathroom and kitchen - all things one can build in one’s own home for a price .. something to remember when flat hunting again
loving as always shopping in an overseas supermarket - I went hard on the salsa, guacamole, a bean houmous spicy dip, roast chicken, some fabulous tinned spicy beans, tortilla chips, some mixed organic greens .. enough for 3 meals at least - benefit having a kitchen here
saw the pool on the roof and the gym (and outdoor fitness space overlooking the sea) so will try and go first thing in the morningDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

I miss the large walk-in shower from our last house. There was something luxurious about it compared to our current shower over the bath and normal-sized cubicle in the en-suite. I need to continue the decluttering journey - thanks for the reminder.
Lovely to be enjoying the sunshine, I'd forgotten what it was like but need to get on and book another holiday."Think of many things, do one"

The amount of love this walk in shower is getting - on a MFW site - is fun... Its that idea of spending money on things you treasure, as opposed to wasting it. It makes life feel super luxurious.. (apart from when @dawnybabes is washing her dog in one!)
Mind you if you saw the walk in closet as well ....with shelves, drawers, hanging sections, shoe and handbag sections ... this vision board of my home is getting wild
I managed yesterday to finally do my 24 year review and my 25 goals.
I have also taken some lessons from what worked/didnt worked last year and plan to ensure those lessons I can really learn from this year including the importance of remembering: (excuse the buddhist terminology)
Choosing big goals and external deadlines = big rewards and big happiness
I take the right actions to transform myself and thus my environment. My life is not me reacting to my environment, it reacts to me (Esho funi)
Follow through to the end, even when I hit obstacles (largely me getting in my own way)
Daily strive to be the best I can be, take daily action to make that happen
Daily remind myself of my 2025 determinations
I have a home to win, then buy, a battle to triumph for myself and others on this housing, and some BIG side hustle plans are cooking … and it all needs me to step up and each day use my time wisely.
That Important, Not Urgent quadrant (Stephen Covey) is my focus of 2025.

I chose NOT to buy anything clothes wise w in one cool discount store. I did buy some v well reviewed teeth whitening strips. I looked at the same electric tootbrush - only a couple £ cheaper in the UK with the b**ts deal and I have points to cover it - will sort when I get home
The vacation starting this eve properly as staying with a friend so looking forward to catching up with her for a couple of days. I am seeing a glamorous bar and some fantastic Latam food in my near future. London seems v far away though I have been accused of bringing the weather with me.. although not that storm you all facing... hope everyone keeps safe.
Trying to sort the boiler out from here.... First quote £190 plus vat call out plus the actual fixing ... ouch (recommendation) - not looking forward to that part of home buyingI may wait tilI get back next week - May look at TaskRabbit.
Despite being careful to order GF food, something I ate really upset me yesterday - as in last night I was lying with my belly suddenly swollen - I looked as if i was 6 months pregnant, hard, swollen, sore, so I am being v safe today on food, I did bring buscopan with me luckily so slightly better today but ouch .. felt like i was in Alien...
I am thinking again of replacing my phone whilst I am here .. the current one (iPhone 12 pro) was bought 2nd hand 2 years ago and regular readers will recall me finding the battery life difficult every time I travel - I now have a charger/battery pack with me
I am aware though that I am in the cheapest place to buy a newer /new phone and long battery life will be incredibly useful this summer plus ability to video loads. So I will look on Saturday before I leave - I know they sell eSIM only so .Of course the want v need issue raises its head - I will have to get a better battery life pound before this summer but do I need the iPhone 16 pro max ?!?DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

You know the answer to that - you do not need the iPhone 16 pro max! (Unless you find it secondhand from somewhere like back market, which might make it a much better deal).
I wouldn’t use Taskrabbit for a boiler engineer - there’s a reason they are expensive, they have to have their gas safe registration. Get some more quotes, definitely, because that sounds extortionate, but I wouldn’t look somewhere you could be compromising your safety.
