Any thoughts on what I should do gratefully accepted. I have been working for this company now for 25 years. On my anniversary a few days ago there was no recognition from the company at all. Nothing other than a day late e mail from my line manager. I want to complain but not too sure if I should. Any thoughts???

What does contract say about recognition for 25 years service?

It does not say anything....but it was more about getting somebody to just recognise the 25 years...a ,well done, would have been nice.0

You could suggest that they start a procedure that recognises the service length of employees, with an email on anniversaries and possibly a card or small gift on bigger dates. A previous employer of mine did it and it was rather nice to get a note. Explain that it would be good for morale, as you had felt a bit underwhelmed by no recognition for your long service.
Make it constructive if you are going to mention it.Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

You want to complain? What about?
It might be nice if they remembered - they probably didn't - but this is work. They have paid you, one assumes, and that that is the end of the contract. You turn up, they pay you for doing so. Gratitude isn't included. That said, you could drop them an email thanking them for employing you for 25 years...7 -

To be honest, particularly in bigger organisations, even if some recognition does happen it is so formulaic and impersonal as to be frankly meaningless. One former civil service (but now private) organisation I knew, circulated what staff sarcastically called the "Green Shield Stamp Catalogue" so that you could choose your own gift. However you first had to use a complex formula to see what level of gift you were allowed depending on your grade, length of service and several other factors. Yes, it really was as tacky as that!1 -
You have received recognition of you 25 years service, you've received 300+ pay packets or 300+ congratulations you have done the job you have been paid to do. And a email of thanks. What else would you deem reasonable? Marching bands, fun fair, perhaps a pocket watch?1

Maybe they just don't apprciate you.0

I do get this though...recognition is sporadic where I work. Some people get a clap for simply reaching their anniversary of joining ("well done Bob for being with us for 6 years!") and others don't even get a birthday card. It's often down to the manager and how personal they are with their teams. Because the role I've been in has had 5 different managers in less than 4 years my birthday and other days have been overlooked completely and as I'm outside of the normal team structures I'm not invited on team events or included in silly things like Secret Santa. Not a big loss of course but it's sad to see others having fun and you're sitting there not invited.
I did get a present when I hit 10 years employed by them but that's because it's a company policy run by HR so managers get told when the present events are happening and what they need to do.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
