Carry on doing your job. Most people don't get recognition for long service these days.

I think it is relatively unusual for this kind of thing to be marked. (I gather that it is perhaps more common in the US!)
Does your employer typically mark other milestones? If so, perhaps you could suggest that work anniversaries such as 5,10 or 25 years are added to the list of official celebrations.
If the situation is that other people who have been there for that length of time do get some form of recognition, then while I would not complain, I would raise it with HR or whoever deals with personnel, to point put that it is not being dealt with consistently and that that is demoralizing.
However, i think it's more usual for it to be something that might be mentioned or referred to when someone retires, rather than on an ongoing basis.
I think it's perhaps more common for the person celebrating the anniversary to mark it - like birthdays, bring in some cake and tell people it's to celebrate having been there for 25 years! All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Surely there should be a minimum of 30 years upwards before there is even a possibility it being considered "long" service.0

Things have changed.
In 1940 my grandfather received a chiming clock from the BSA in recognition of his 25 years service. My father received a thank you from his boss (small local firm) for 25 yrs in 1972. I received absolutely zilch from Civil Service in 1995.
Be grateful that they even remember your name!!If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales4 -

Where I work (public sector) they actually do still do long-service awards. You get the most god-awful cut glass rose bowl emblazoned with the coat of arms after 25 years. I am grateful only for the fact that I haven't worked there 25 years and won't ever! And not just to avoid the rose bowl - although that is certainly an incentive to not do so.2 -

It might be nice if they remembered - they probably didn't - but this is work. They have paid you, one assumes, and that that is the end of the contract. You turn up, they pay you for doing so. Gratitude isn't included. That said, you could drop them an email thanking them for employing you for 25 years...
To be honest, particularly in bigger organisations, even if some recognition does happen it is so formulaic and impersonal as to be frankly meaningless. One former civil service (but now private) organisation I knew, circulated what staff sarcastically called the "Green Shield Stamp Catalogue" so that you could choose your own gift. However you first had to use a complex formula to see what level of gift you were allowed depending on your grade, length of service and several other factors. Yes, it really was as tacky as that!0 -
Yes, sadly people don't get any recognition for long service any more.
But on the positive side, you do still have a job - that's a great achievement in these days of uncertainty.
And you are obviously doing well at it or they'd have booted you out before now.
So there are some positives, even though you don't get a prize. You're obviously doing a great job. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Well l beg to differ.
I worked in an organisation where we set up a focus group so that people who got to 20 years got a gift and extra leave.
In this day and age where people tend to move on quite quickly loyalty should be celebrated. That's someone who likely has years of valuable experience.
In my current role l have picked it up again after someone left after 42 years without so much as a by your leave. The majority of you may think it's acceptable but l certainly do not.1 -
I would be grateful for having a job for 25 years and no redundancy etc.1

I worked in the same NHS organisation for 25 years and never got anything regarding it. Not even an email.1
