25 years in job....no recognition from company

Being employed kept a roof over head etc1

Also, if you want your anniversary marked it helps to drop into conversation 'I don't believe I'll have worked here for 40 years next month' - just like birthdays. Some colleagues like a fuss, others like to carry on quietly.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I think he's an attention seeker, we will send you a hand clap emoji for your 25 years along with your P45.

If its a big company. Unless theres a set process then its often better not to recognise unless its consistent.
Eg at my employer the other day a line manager got a cake and made a fuss for a relatively new starts birthday.
We all have birthdays so why does the new (young/pretty
) new start get a fuss? I could care less for me but its the perception in a large employer with 50+ employees in my office alone 0
