Only if they had gone above and beyond. The social media posts might be fabricated to make the company look good……

The company’s social media is always full of photos of thank you cards and gifts they have been given from happy customers… I however do not feel inclined to do this in the slightest!

Hardly going to be letters of complaint from disgruntled customers. Marketing and PR should always be viewed cynically. I've always found a few kind words directly with the individual you deal with adequate in any business relationship.
  • We have been passed to a sales progression team and probably last month, I had a text from the EA who sold our house asking how things were going and if I needed anything. When I replied she sent back a link and a request for feedback. I gave her 4 out of 5 as there's always room for improvement and haven't heard back since.

Ours was totally brilliant from start to finish so I baked them a cake and some other home-made goodies (and a nice card). Our solicitor was fantastic too so we gave her a bunch of flowers.
  • I won't be giving our EA anything. We had tried to buy another property they had listed, which went to best and final offers and whilst it's not their fault we weren't chosen, they were a bit shirty with us about the whole thing. Also weren't forthcoming with important information when we initially viewed. I don't feel as if they've done anything to warrant us buying gifts for them with this purchase. Our mortgage broker, on the other hand, has been extremely helpful, even offering to help us look through our homebuyer's survey and being happy to talk us through other things that he really didn't have to.

I sent a thank you card to our solictor and mortgage broker we used as they were excellent, the estate agent was very average so didn't bother with them!

It's the same as tipping. They only get one if they deserve it.

This time ours earned their fee! I didn't do a gift or card, but left a review on one of the platform's they asked us to. I very very rarely leave reviews and it involved me setting up an account to do so, this to me, was high praise indeed!!! I made sure I named the sales progresser as well, she was a tower of strength when our first buyer was mucking us about.

I gave the removals crew some cash (enough for a couple of drinks each) as they were a man down, yet had smiles permenantly on and were just such good fun and helped make an incredibly stressful day a little easier. I also left a good review for the company and made sure I emailed their office to praise the crews efforts, just incase they had any kind of 'employees of the month' type thing.

I worked in the lettings business for years.

At Christmas our office was full of cards, chocolates, wine, flowers etc from happy LLs and tenants.

No, we didn’t send anything to ourselves.
