Card/gift for estate agents?

We recently exchanged contracts, but feel that we have received a distinctly average service from our estate agent.
The company’s social media is always full of photos of thank you cards and gifts they have been given from happy customers… I however do not feel inclined to do this in the slightest!
Is it the done thing to send a thank you card and/or a gift? Absolutely nothing they have done could be considered to be above and beyond . I don’t see it being different to any other business in all honesty? Am I being mean-spirited? ( I won’t be hurt honest opinions!)

I for one certainly wouldn't bother - They have made enough out of commission and all the other "extras".
Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
No obligation to send a gift if not deserved.
They're not going to put a post us saying "Mr & Mrs X didn't gift us anything". They prob send half of them to themselves lol.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
No, it's just like any other business they have provided a service.1

Agreed. They are getting paid to do a job and obviously not an exceptional one at that0

We are going to because ours have been brilliant throughout, despite a sale falling apart. Also going to get something for our conveyancing solicitors as they have been super quick, super communicative and generally the opposite of every complaint you find on these boards.
I'm not a big card/gift buyer for people just doing their jobs, but when I've appreciated someone I want them to know about it.0 -
I am going to get a gift and card for my second agent, who took over the sale of my house after 4 months when I was on the verge of giving up. They did all the viewings (around 20) and got me under offer in just over 4 weeks. Yes, they are paid for this, but I am appreciative of their efforts and going beyond what was expected of them really. I am going to send them some home made cupcakes to their office and a card. Just a token gesture really.0

there are definitely huge variations in the service provided - many are distinctly average but OK if they do actually sell the house - never to be mentioned again if they faff around and don't actually manage to sell.
Have had one who was outstanding - stacks of viewings which they did, wheeling out retired members of staff to help out - counselling on all parts when the first purchaser died a few weeks into the process - good communications and cheerful e-mails. Did I send them a card? did I 'eck - thanked them and paid the bill.
I save sending cards to people to where it matters - DH treated v well in AE by young doctor, doctor's appraisal has ghastly section for "compliments and complaints" the aim is to get more of the former than the latter - so card and letter will have been important in that case0 -
I agree that they get well paid for their services, however I am going to take a gift to mine because he’s been brilliant. My buyers have been rather demanding to say the least, and he’s worked hard, I have been very impressed with his service.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

We had a great estate agent - so we bought a bouquet. But only because we would use them next time and they've been brilliant out of hours.

I would say if they had been particularly good/helpful in a difficult situation a card would be nice but not necessary. Mine were good, but not exceptional, and got paid well for it so nothing further was given!0
