My preference is to search Discussions and Sort By Newest; choose Category Competitions Time on the right and Search Subcategories. What to Search - Discussions and deselect Polls. Choose a From and To date if required, but the search does seem to order by End Date properly now.4 -

I'm trying to search https://creative.dailymail.co.uk/travelbag/orlando
Logically I would have thought I should press the Categories under the main search but if I do that I don't get the Category options. So I followed through @JamboDP way of doing it above, clicking Discussions, then the Categories come up on the right hand side.
It still looks muddled to me, but perhaps there are final tweeks to be done, certainly no worse than we've been dealing with.#StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year3 -
Has anyone tried searching threads in Regular comps?
Take a Break mags & Puzzler....
Is it possible or am I just being dim?
Not important now the threads are not 7 years old.

Just parking this URL here for later investigation
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/search?domain=discussions&query=saltee&page=1&sort=-dateInserted&scope=site&initialized=true&needsResearch=false&Search=saltee&categoryOptions[0][value]=72&categoryOptions[0][label]=Competitions Time&categoryOptions[0][data][parentLabel]=Forum Home&includeChildCategories=true&types[0]=discussion&types[1]=comment

The above search returns Saltee hits in Newest order, but if you then select All or Categories for example, then select Discussions again, the list only shows a much reduced list or none at all, and the Polls option is re-ticked. Unticking Polls and clicking Filter brings back the original list. Minor glitch?1

My Problem #1 - Amount of work required to do a "basic" search
1. Click "Search" icon, put search term in box & click "Search" (same as before)
2. Click on "Discussions" button
3. Click on "Sort By" and select "Newest"
4. Click on "Category" and scroll down and select "Competitions Time"
5. Click to select "Search Subcategories"
6. Click to deselect "Polls"
7. Click on the "Filter" button
This is too much work. I also think that steps 5 & 6 shouldn't be compulsory and this part could be a fault.
