"Thank you for your email
I can confirm that your ESA50 questionaire has being received.
This has now being reviewed by a Healthcare Professional on 5th August and we have provided advice to DWP.
Your file will now been returned to a DWP Decision Maker, who will be in touch in due course.
I hope this information is of some help."
So CHDA do not make the decision - that is down to DWP
What, exactly is the role of CHDA ?
In this case it sounds like they're providing advice based on paperwork supplied...likely, but no guarantee, an in person assessment won't be required for a decision by DWP to be made.

As you've found they can be responsive to queries regarding their role in the process - such as giving basic updates on their progress in relation to assessing claimants. But they do not take the decision on entitlement and so the likely last update you will get if requesting information is that they've returned the file back to the DWP with their advice (as in your case). It is likely they've sent their report (unless they've found some barrier to providing assessment advice) which you should be able get a copy of from DWP (use ESA number on DWP ESA letters)... ESA85 if you had a 'proper assessment' or ESA85A if you had a paper based one.
As above.... they provide the same role as the 'independent' private companies that operate for the DWP regarding PIP.
