I had to sign one of those electronic pads today for a parcel so I had a look at what I was signing for so I could report back on here.
On the signing screen there was NO indication of how many parcels I was signing for - just my name and the box where I signed.
I asked the HDN driver where does it show how many parcels I am signing for and he had to scroll back to another screen to show me that it showed 1 parcel.
IF this was the same for you then you would NOT have seen that screen whilst signing so how could you have known you were signing for 2 parcels but only got one?
    HTH.

  • Hiya , still not heard anything back as yet, called them 13/12/07 they said I would hear by Monday, still heard nothing so getting my composing head on as I think it is going to be a lengthy letter.

Clutterfree, thanks so much for letting me know with regards to checking out if the number of parcels is held on the screen, at least I know now, and I think it was HDN who delivered my parcel . Also you are right I never even thought to check how many parcels as I was only expecting 1.

kippers, i will let you know the outcome, however it looks like I will have to resort to writing to them to get any results as so far no-one has got back to me, i could ring again, but no-doubt I will be told 'Oh you will be contacted by ...day' and that day will come and go again!

FloFlo i paid by Argos card so don't think that I am covered and even if I was usually (I think!) a card issuer would ask you to attempt to sort out with the seller first.

Meggie-lizzie, the trouble is i did sign the electronic machine, however this was for 1 parcel, thay are claiming that I had 2 parcels delivered ( 2 separate orders) and my signature has been copied over to the 2nd order, so i am worried that they will come back to me and say 'well we've got your signature tough luck' Argos have said that they would only expect a customer to sign once if they have multiple parcels!!

Thank you so much for thinking of me, i will let you know when i find out, I will write my letter later or in the morning and get it off to them

    Thanks again

Argos's online ordering system is a joke in my experience.
They don't send order confirmation emails a lot of the time, don't give an order number/reference, add that to the fact they don't actually give you an invoice with the delivery (rather you get it on a sticker with the item) and it's surprising they don't get a lot more problems.

Which gives me a thought, if you've still got the packaging the label on that should I think say if it was "1 of 2" or whatever.
  • Got another parcel from HDN today (don't tell hubby! lol).
The number of parcels I was signing for definitely did NOT show on the signing screen.
Did HDN deliver your Argos parcel?
If so, you *may* be able to say that the signing screen only showed your name and NOT how many parcels you were signing for and because you were only expecting 1 you assumed you were only signing for 1.
Why would you think you were signing for 2? Argos had assured you the first order had not gone through - they have to take the blame for that because if they had given you the correct information then you would not have re-ordered it.
    Good luck!

  • I was a victim of a similar dispute, the driver when interviewed lied through his teeth and said he definately remembered leaving the parcel on my back door.
Luckily for me I must be one house in a million that has three front doors and no back door. Had to send the company a video of me walking round the house before they would settle!!!

Drivers like to keep parcels for themselves. ALWAYS leave a note for couriers NOT to leave parcels unnatended if your going out otherwise they will use this excuse to bag themselves a bargain.
  • Well Argos gave me a call today to apologise for the delay but i must appreciate that this is a very busy time of the year, however they were re-interviewing the driver again today after his round. Thought a tad odd though as cannot understand what would have change, unless he hasn't been interviewed yet.

The person calling (lady) said the driver would have said '2 parcels' and then asked me to sign. There was no verbal contact between myself and the driver! Advised her that I only signed once and one parcel delivered. She stated that my signature was against the 2 orders, advised her that they must be exact replicas as I have only signed once. She did say that it would not show on the screen that I was signing for 2 orders but would be on drivers sheet ! no use to me though! I again requested the Hard Copy of POD. Lady also said they need to establish where my parcel is.

It was deffo HDN that delivered the parcel as the lady confirmed it today.

Don't know what is coming next or how long this is going to go on.

hi Clutterfree, yes I explained this to the lady i spoke to today, however she said they need to investigate where my parcel actually is, expalined re signature thing and everything, they are going to speak to driver again tonight . Don't know what will change though! Basically down to my word against the drivers.

Incidentely i had another parcel delivered by HDN today, not through Argos though and it was just left on the doorstep !

trouble is I did sign for one order, but Argos are saying I received 2 as my signature has been copied over to the 2nd delivery as multiple deliveries do not require more than on signature. Don't know what evidence i can send them though!
