never could understand how people can't manage a couple of hours without something to eat or drink

It's not that I can't go an hour or two without any form of sustenance or thirst quenching.

It's more I hate flying, and a bottle of water (combined with a bag of Werthers) helps me feel a bit better. The two combined help fight the ear-popping, if nothing else.

Take an empty bottle of water through security, fill it at an airside tap, tadaa - free bottle of water.
I am with you on the basic concept and often do it on the return trip using the Boots Health Club 50p bottle I buy on the outbound. Reason I don't do it at Stansted? Because all the toilet taps without any exception (that can see) are those automatic warm water things. I have asked before at the gateside coffee shop and received a top-up with a smile, but there are usually queues - are you brazen enough to queue and ask? :p

Whilst standing at the gate waiting for the Easyjet to taxy in I also noticed something odd about how it looked ... it seemed to be very dumpy and too small for its tail! Not full value at all! Then it dawned on me ... it's a good 5 metres shorter than Ryanair's! Its only got two overwing exits not four, and consequently only eight seats over the wing with some improved legroom, not twelve!

easyJet will eventually have A319 aircraft at STN and these have 4 overwing exits and 4 cabin crew.

strange as it may seem to many on this forum saving every penny and fasting for a few hours in order not to part with your hard earned cash is something your average holidaymaker/traveller has no intention of doing

they want drinks and snacks onboard or a meal at the airport and are happy to pay extra to enjoy the experience more

i actuallly enjoy a ryanair coffee onboard

if you want to do a peterbaker and find a cold water tap to fill an empty bottle then good luck to you

    you only live once folks

Cor smack me down with a wet kipper ynot

I didn't say I make a habit of it anywhere other than nice taps sur le continent for goodness sakes (has to be Hans Grohe or I won't touch them :p )

I also will admit to having bought a coffee on Ryanair, and sometimes it ain't bad! Better than one I bought in MacD the other day where I truly burnt my tongue and the roof of my mouth on the first sip, and then couldn't taste any of it when it cooled down

PS richardw, what's that shining out of the marshaller's bottom? Is he favoured by the CEO or what? :p .... here's another pic of the same one with the two overwing exits shown .... http://www.caa.co.uk/applicationmodules/ginfo/ginfo_photo.aspx?regmark=G-EZIM&imgname=G-EZIM001&imgtype=jpg ... it's another dumpy looking one, this time with a fin that looks marginally inadequate (Airbus trait :p), plus it's still 29 short of 189 !

i think its been established beyond reasonable doubt peterbaker you are thrifty, tightfisted old b u g g e r who goes to extraordinary lengths to save money:rotfl:and trying to sound posh with the foreign taps fools no-one

i will try and hunt down a proper tap at stansted for you on my next trip:D
  • i agree with ynot2005!!

this is making me laugh! ok were all moneysavers and i like getting "one up" on these big comapanies.

    but......

taking an empty bottle and filling it up with water?! to save ........how much?! This is crazy, if you dont want to part with your hard earned cash then walk it....you shouldnt be on the flight in the first place

NEVER EVER BE TIGHT WITH YOURSELF, AND DENY YOURSELF AND OTHERS AROUND YOU DRINK AND FOOD!

to the guy who got short changed 3p, why didnt you make everyone on the flight aware that it was happening? say it at a time when its relevant to all concerened? you could have stood up in the middle of the flight and shouted "they still owe us all 3p"

I am with peterbaker, I refuse to pay the outrageous prices charged by airports/airlines for their " trapped " audiences.

I take sarnies that I make at home.

even though they are supposedly no older than Ryanair's, you can easily see that Easyjet's are kind of rust-coloured on many surfaces

Aluminum does not rust. Rust refers only to iron and steel corrosion.

Erm I think the quoted post was a tongue in cheek reference to the orange paint used by Easyjet.;)
