Day 2 and 8 testing

Hi all. Really appreciate some clear directions here.
I am confused about the day 2 and 8 testing after arrival back to the UK.
I am going to Athens and will take a test there before flying back. But how do I book my day 2 and 8 tests after my arrival in the UK? I am double vaccinated.
Do I purchase the tests before I travel and take them with me to show, or will they arrive at my house when I am away and I send them off after my return?
Thanks

The ones we have purchased come ( hopefully ) a few days before we travel ,these are Lat Flow Kits , when we are away the test kits for the 2 day test shouls arrive just before we return ,these you post off.0

When you come back you need to take proper PCR tests, not lateral flow.
You'll need to purchase them in advance, ideally before you leave but can be ordered after as long as they are here for your day 2 testing. You'll also need the booking confirmation code and a different confirmation code for track and trace passenger locator forms when you arrive.
Depending on where you live, I've seen in person day 2 and 8 tests for as cheap as £3 up in Bolton. Unfortunately I do not live close enough to benefit from that deal! The cheapest I found locally was near marriot Hotel Heathrow for £35 in person; or £77 postal one.
If in doubt, the government have a page on their site with details. The passenger locator form MUST BE COMPLETED prior to you getting on a plane to return as you will be asked about it when returning to the UK. You can complete this form anytime 48 hours before you arrive.
Good luck and enjoy Greece!

Oh sorry I should also say; keep an eye on the Amber plus list as I'm sure I read somewhere that Greece may end up on that list soon (along with Spain). If they do, you'll need to isolate for the 10 days (where your arrival day is day 0).0

Thanks everyone for the replies.
So when I purchase the test, they will issue a code for me to use in the locater form right? And the locator form will be where?
As for Amber plus, I've heard the next travel list update will be on the 6th of August. I'll be back by then.0 -

Hi again.
I am totally confused about the number of tests I need. I am fully NHS vaccinated. I will stay in Greece 5 days.
Do I need Day 2 only or Day 2 and 8 tests?
Thanks0 -
Everything is on the gov.uk website. Greece is amber (at the moment) so you need to book a day 2 test only.

Thank you. I thought so. But on some test provider sites they are selling both tests even though I put Greece down as the country I will be traveling from.0 -
You need the requirements of travelling to Greece and/or the airline (you'll have to check what that is). Before leaving Greece you will need a PCR or antigen test up to three days before departing for the UK and a pre-booked Day 2 PCR test before your return flight. You will be provided with a reference number for the PCR test which needs to be inputted into the Passenger Locator Form so this has to be booked before leaving Greece.
Keep in mind that if Greece goes Amber Plus before you expect you will also need a Day 8 test (regardless of vaccination status). The cost and inconvenience could go up siginficantly. There is no guarantee of a date to update the list. It could be added today. It could never be added. All I am saying is be prepared for it to happen so you're fully prepared.1 -
