Do your pets get birthday presents?

I so enjoyed this 2009 thread Pets and Christmas gifts, in which comments range from "Of course I don't buy my pets Christmas gifts" to "Yep, I spoil my pets to bits".
So on a similar vein, do your pets get birthday presents? Is it a ludicrous extravagance or a necessary token of affection?
And if you don't know your pet's date of birth, how about the anniversary of their coming to live with you?

Of course our furbabe gets birthday and Christmas presents - she's family!1

Yes our dog does, but only things we'd buy her anyway, such as tug or throw toys which we need for the activities/play we do with her on a daily basis.
She's a working breed that we keep as a pet so she needs a lot of activity and training to keep her mentally and physically healthy.2022. 2% MF challenge. £730/30001 -
Just an extra chew maybe. My mother in law did make my dog a 'birthday cake' - well a slice of melon with a candle in lolBeen around since 2008 but somehow my profile was deleted!!!0

Yes, she's my family and gets birthday and Christmas presents, even my partner's family get her gifts at Christmas.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear it in 2026.1

Yep! For her last birthday, our cat got two interactive toys (Middle of Lidl specials, ha) but didn't like either of them. She enjoyed playing with the packaging though - so all was not lost.
For mealtimes she got posh Sheba cat soup and extra Dreamies.1 -
Ariadne is a lady and won't reveal anything about her age or birthday. And she doesn't know it's christmas but is completely aware of the turkey. So she gets some bits added to her dinner. She isn't given any toys as they are scary and would consider it mean. She knows her sister Artemis was stupidly in love with toys but look what came of that??I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Of course. Although not so much for her birthday, our Pashmina receives small gifts throughout the year and a bumper bundle at Christmas. She couldn't care less, of course about any of them but we enjoy ourselves! We found her crying, dirty and alone on the side of a road when she was around five weeks old (according to the vet) and we estimate her birthday to be 4th July. Independence Day for the US but Dependence day for her. She hasn't looked back since - she's now 12 - and we are her slaves. All is as it should be.Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. We usually get them a special food treat for their adoption day and Christmas - but bigger 'gifts' like a new cat tree, or exercise wheel just get bought when there's spare cash and a good deal on. No point hiding stuff like that for a special day!
They usually enjoy all the boxes more than anything we buy anyway.3 -
Pippin goes to Puppy Playschool once a week, they threw a full blown party for her once as it was her actual birthday - 'cake', balloons, party hats! We sent treats and carrots to share.Last year I made doggy lollies to share at school, carrots and frankfurters in ice chunks!I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. A friend of mine, invites all of her friends around to her house with their dogs and they all sing Happy Birthday, the invite is reciprocated at all of the other girls houses, presumably whilst they all drink Prosecco 😁1
