I am not an expert in this, but I am told (by Mrs R) that not all nail polish removers are the same.

Having had a stain on our oak table caused by the underside of fruit box, the DD1 nail polish remover made it lighter but the Mrs R industrial strength one got it out completely, so may be a case of a stronger acetone mix will help?
I hadn't thought about this, but that makes sense. Might give it a try thanks! Undoubtedly everyone I know will see me checking out the nail polish section😅
I recommend Boots Extra Strength (3 stars on bottle) .. i say recommend use at own risk, but it did save us having to have the table stripped and re-polished.. so .. fingers crossed.
    Appreciate it!

Boots do click and collect for no additional cost if the item is in stock at the branch you want to pick up from IYSWIM so you could avoid being spotted by Uncle Tom Cobley and all if you liked.

    Jif/Cif not tried yet?
There's also the strong likelihood that natural wear will lessen it further, tho' not sure it's in a footfall area?

Are you washing these cleaners off the tiles before trying the next one? You're in danger of getting a chemical reaction between the different products if not. You could end up with a concoction which damages the surface irreperably.

I'll try hair spray tomorrow, though I feel it's very unlikely to do anything.

I would urge you to try hairspray. We had an ink mark on our nearly new leather sofa, I had read that hairspray would get it out and was very skeptical but it worked instantly and didn't damage the leather.

Going to give it a try this morning thanks!

Regarding washing tiles before applying different chemicals, I absolutely do this, not just for the tiles sake but for my own, goes for anything, it's surprisingly easy to create deadly poisons chlorine gas is the one that comes to mind by mixing bathroom cleaning products!

Decided against the cif, on my concealed test area I could see that with enough rubbing it was removing the shiny surface, and I suspect the porous finish left behind would be susceptible to in ground dirt and further damage. Thanks for the idea though!

Be very careful with nail polish removers they can melt plastics.

Are you using an acetone based polish remover (which the boots extra strength is) or an acetone free remover? (These often feel a bit oily, and are often sold as "less damaging" to nails).

They work in different ways to remove nail polish.

From the photo and greatly enlarged I can't see the stain. It now blends in with the tiles and sun and wear should do the rest.
I wonder if now because you have focused on it for so long you can see it.
The more you rub with solvents the more likely you are to do some damage.
