Thank you so much everyone for taking the time and effort to reply, it means a lot.
I've several of the products mentioned around the house so I'll do some careful experimentation with them.

ha! So I've tried terps, which did nothing, wd40, again nothing (very disheartened by this point!) and then I've tried nail polish remover-the cotton wool bud turned bright pink! Brilliant I thought, so I've been busy scrubbing away with it, but it seems to have come to a stop, after the initial top layer of the dye.

I'm unsure how to proceed, I'd think if it reacts once then it must always react and it's just a case of lots and lots of elbow grease but I'm struggling to see any change after the initial go, even after 20~ mins non stop with it!
(slightly flattering due to light) Pic attached of the progress.
Thanks again for the replies and advice, Mark.
  • Blimey - that's stubborn stuff!
Have you tried a gentle abrasive cleaner - ie Jif?
Do bear in mind it is an abrasive, but I'd have thought your flooring will be a wear layer well up to coping with this and more. A wee bit on a cloth over your fingertip - try a small spot. Rub rub rub...

I had another go at it, for an hour! It's painfully slow progress. These charity bags must use some high quality ink!

I will give the jif(isn't it cif nowadays?) a little go tomorrow thanks, I'll also try something alcohol based (for the floor.. and for myself to recover from the floor).

I'll let you know how I go on in the morning, appreciate all the replies!

This has happened to me twice now - not on the floor but a charity bag pushed through the letterbox had been picked up by a family member and left on my hall windowsill for a couple of days and the white gloss paint was badly stained due to the the ink.  Fortunately easier to rub down and repaint than your floor - annoyed when I did it a second time though.

Be glad they picked it up at least, who knows what happens if you go away on holiday and 5 of them get pushed through, you'd come back to a mosaic

😕to be honest if it was a supermarket bag or something commercial, and not a reputable charity, I'd be contacting them because it's been a nightmare.

This may sound daft but I tried it on a school sweatshirt and it worked thought not sure about tiles. Spray with hairspray. Leave over night then wash with washing up liquid and water.

Carpet and hard floor shampoo. Just the 1000 stuff.
Rub in. Leave for a while like you would with carpet then try wiping clean.
Careful not to slip on it though.
I've used it on vinyl flooring with sucess.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
