Just justify how vanity plates save money"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

On that subject, i note that the Motoring forum on here falls under "Travel and Transport" NOT under the "Money Saving" category?dipsomaniac said:This is mse. No place for vanity plates
I wonder why....1 -
They dont.dipsomaniac said:Just justify how vanity plates save money
However i notice the MSE mods seem more than happy to have a large amount of diverse car related subjects discussed on this Motoring board. I guess if it was for money saving they'd (a) move it to the "Money Saving" section of the Forum and (b) close all topics that didnt meet your definition.
Its almost like they (like the rest of us) dont view it like you do?1 -
Indeed the only people who seem to think private plates are special are those who take exception to them. Speaks volumes about them, IMHO.onlyfoolsandparking said:

If someone sticks some plate on their Audi A4 TDI that means something to them - even if its just their initials or whatever - then i dont see how thats vanity or lording it over people or having something above your station in life or trying to make your car look newer or trying to impress others or believing you're better than someone or whatever other reason a minority find to judge them.1 -
Who said they save money? tell me and I will find them, I have a very particular set of skills.dipsomaniac said:Just justify how vanity plates save money1 -

I'm not saying people can't be vain... Of course they can, if it's what floats their boat. But why deny it? Are they embarrassed by their vanity?1 -
Because Dipso thinks this site is about spending the least amount possible on anything including motoring and cant accept thats not the case borne out by the vast array of topics that come up on here and not taken down by the mods.onlyfoolsandparking said:

According to him, we're only "allowed" to talk about saving money on here. He seems to forget that noone has yet died and made him Forum God.1 -
They're not. You seem obsessed by labelling it as vanity.AdrianC said:

I guess you must label everything as vanity then? A nice watch or some nice jewellery must be right up there. Or car related, upgraded alloy wheels or any expression of individuality. All of those, from your blinkered view you'd label as vanity?
