  • I agree nanny, I’m really struggling with saving and even maintaining what I have 😖
I haven’t got the right mindset yet.

WinterWarrior - I don't think Xmas is helping this year for a lot of families as from a few I've spoken to they feel they have to make up for the last two years, not sure why as I don't expect their little ones can remember how much the received last Xmas, just glad to say my lot aren't but I just hope they don't accrue debt.

Had a nice surprise visit from sil who bought my dds 'new to me' phone and set it up for me, not sure how it works yet but I can do all the basics which is the important bit.

Slept really well last night and on and off all day!! Making up for lost time I think and I feel soooo much better, so ready for the new week ahead.

Today's clearing out included a bottle of syrup for coffee and a packet of biscuits that I wasn't keen on to sil and I started shredding paper for next week's recycling.

    Lunch - cheese toastie.
Tea - LO veggies from yesterday with a veggie pasty and gravey.

So off to bed I think, I didn't realise how late it was

Early one from me today. Pup woke me up in the night again but it's OK, I'll go to bed earlier tonight. Took him a long walk to see if that helps, but I could do with a good night tonight as its my child minding day tomorrow and I have to be up very early (well for me anyway).

Made a casserole for tonight and tomorrow so it's all done and ready to go when I get in tomorrow. So that's about it, a very quiet day here, no shopping needed.

Day 8 - got rid of a purse and a pair of glasses.

Lunch - poached eggs on toast
    Tea - bean casserole.

  • Long day. Pup slept all night and I had to wake him this morning! Child minding dgs done for the week and took eldest dgd with me as her college has been shut for deep cleaning!!

Took dgc out for lunch and wish I hadn't, the food wasn't really suitable and if I had known we would have gone somewhere else, so I feel I wasted the money that I had saved for it, oh well nobodies fault but mine.

Went two long walks, collected dgd from school and home after I dropped older dgd off at her house, so I'm feeling tired now, by the way my dry cough seems to have gone back to where it came from, so I'm sleeping so much better now.

No money spent from food money purse, and I'm ok for food I think for the rest of the week, but I will have to go to the milk farm for some milk in a couple of days. That's it as I'm off to bed and pup has gone to sleep as well.

Not much happened today, pup slept all night, he got taken for a good long walk over the fields and I did a bit of grocery shopping - fancied some grapes for some reason!!

Day 9 - a couple of tops have gone into the cs bag, it's slowly getting filled up.

Lunch - rest of LO stew (there wasn't much so I had a couple of cream crackers with it)

Tea - hm cola chickenless and rice - I used some cubed quorn from the freezer and there's enough for another day.

Off to browse the boards for a bit, hope you're all well.

Getting fed up with quiet days! House work done, pup walked and tired out, no spending has happened and eldest dgds award night has been cancelled no reason given, first college then school! Oh well there goes my night out!!!

    Lunch: salad and jacket potato
Dinner: spag bol and garlic bread.

Day 10 - I have been sorting out in the airing cupboard at s in, so a couple of flannels have gone for floor cloths and I sorted out some pillowcases that will go to the cs and I will make hankies out of the other two.

    That's me done for today.
    Take care

Your sorting out and clearing out is going well.  Little and after makes a real difference.   I'm working through paperwork - old and muddled paperwork, so I've been grabbing a pile, sorting it out, shredding/filing as appropriate - there is a seemingly never ending stream of papers.

Blackcats - I keep asking dd1 if  can borrow her shredder but it's not forthcoming, so I'm going to buy one over the weekend I think, it'll only be small and cheap, I hope!!! I have an old shopping bag in a cupboard that I keep putting things to shred in, but I have some old files that I have found when on the 'hunt' that need doing as well.

Day 11 - some old mugs I no longer use, they will go in cs bag. I've started on the crockery cupboards.

Lunch - scrambled eggs on toast.
Tea -  LO cola chickenless with rice.

Today has been a bit hectic and I haven't managed to walk the pup! It's very windy out now so I'm not venturing out anytime soon. I've had eldest dgd and youngest dgs here for varying times today so I've had to keep the entertainment and peace going :) I think I'll be taking it easy over the weekend. I have started one of the Xmas jigsaws tonight, I start it off and then anyone who comes to visit has to fit a couple of pieces, so it's a family affair, this year I have two 500 ones as last years was a 1000 piece one and we all got fed up of it, it was a 'where's wally' one and was a real pain and we all got fed up!!!
Anyway take care everyone and have a lovely weekend.

  • We gave up with a shredder when they just didn't seem to cope with the job.  We now burn anything that needs it but as each letter comes in we tear off anything with a name or address on and that goes in the kindling bucket, the rest just goes in the paper recycling.  It's amazing how some companies like to put your name on every page on some documents and others it's just an address and account number at the top.

Jellytotts - I agree with you about some companies putting all your details on every page, usually trying to sell you an insurance policy for something.

I haven't progressed very far this week with the clear out, I have got rid of a few bits, but I'm in my craft room now and I'm finding it difficult to get rid of stuff! I can no longer sew or knit much, haven't for the past year or so as my hands and wrists hurt so much, again old age I reckon, but there's a lot of stuff in there I definitely won't try again and just have to bite the bullet and let go.

Filled the car up this morning and did a small amount of shopping at the sm, still on track with the budget but I'll have to very careful next week not to overspend on xmassy bits.

I hope everyone has survived the wind and snow. The pup loved running through the snow on the fields and the kiddies were out in force with sledges and building snowmen there, very wintery!! Went over there today and it looked as a small army was on there :)

The only down side of the last few days is the increase usage of g&e, especially as I've had dgc staying and I can't have them going cold!!
