Thank you Sun_Addict, I have been retired 6 1/2 years and for the first few spent like I was still earning by using some savings, definitely not recommended!!!
Today I have made a start in the back bedroom, but got a bit waylaid looking at different things I found, so I will carry on tomorrow. It's been raining here more or less all day so I haven't been out anywhere, so not spent anything. And tonight I have watched strictly and having a go at mending dgds lacy shawl that I knitted for her mum when she was born. Not very successful so will have to think of another way of doing it.
As it's been raining the cat from over the road has been asleep over here all day! I think his owners have gone away for a couple of days, but I did put him out a bit ago, he's definitely not sleeping here tonight, their next door neighbours are supposed to look after him when they go away!
So that's it for today
Lunch - poached eggs on toast (trying to use some eggs up)
Tea - pasta in a veg/cheese sauce, followed by some bread & butter pudding I made.

Just hm custard, freezer too full to accommodate ice cream unfortunately, WinterWarrior.
Today has been quiet, well it was until sil came for a visit with little dgds. I love to see them and they play really well, especially with dd3 old dolls house!! I bought it downstairs so I could keep an eye on them when upstairs together you never know what might happen! Oh, and he bought some lo pasta bake for me , so that will be tomorrow's lunch.
Haven't finished the back bedroom, like everything else it's turning out to be a bigger job than I first thought, but if I can do just 20-30 mins a day it shouldn't take too long.
So this week I'm looking after dgs Tuesday as normal, having my eyes tested Wednesday and that's about it. I have to book my car in for mot and a service though as its due the end of October and get down to the allotment, that's goodbye to a lazy week I think, but I need to wind the veg growing down a bit and put the majority of beds asleep for the winter.
Lunch - omelette
Tea - mixed veg and bean casserole with garlic bread, followed by frozen fruit and yogurt.

Had a nice surprise today, dd3 collected me and we went to the The Range for a look round, I just bought some hamster bedding but daughter bought a couple of bits. She was looking for a picture but didn't see anything, I saw one I liked that would have looked really nice in my dining room but I resisted and will keep the one I have already! Proud of myself, it wasn't that long ago I would have bought it and taken the money from my travel or emergency funds, especially as I really like the one that's already there! The Halloween and Xmas bits are in and dgs was fascinated by all the lights and loved the trees.
Dd3 bought some coffee and cake as well so a lovely morning out. This afternoon I did some more sorting in the spare room but I keep getting way laid looking at forgotten items, doesn't matter though as there's no rush to get it done and its nice refinding things to look at. A load of laundry done and dried before the rain came so already put away.
Lunch - LO and given to me - pasta bake.
Tea - lo aubergine bake with a few chips.
All bakes and leftovers now eaten, so tomorrow I can have something different - yay.

WinterWarrior - food choices that don't include courgettes or aubergines lol. I have a feeling cabbage is going to feature heavily in the next couple of weeks, so I'll have to get my recipe books out and have a look on the grocery challanged.
Im worn out tonight, dgs has been at my house today and he has discovered my kitchen cupboards, tins and packets have been got out, examined and put back - some with bite marks on! But then he found the cleaning cupboard and I found him with anti bac down his front, it was ok as I washed it out but I will have to see if I can tie the cupboard handles together or something when he comes here in future.
My dd was a day patient today, so when her partner came for dgs he gave me all the details, and I've spoken to him since and besides being very tired she seems OK, so that's a relief, you never stop worrying no matter how old they are.
So an earlier night for me I think.
Not much else had been happening, I'm at the opticians tomorrow and I have to book the car in for its mot and service, so it's an expensive month, it's a good job I have sinking funds for everything.
Right off to make a final drink, a look around the boards and off to bed to read my book.

Today is the day I'm glad I started sinking funds a couple of years ago.
I had my eyes tested today and a new pair of glasses were needed, mind you I already knew that, I've always been short sighted from childhood and these days they seem to be getting worse quicker, it could also have something to do with the starting of cataracts!! Oh the beauty of old age! Anyway I came out £244.20 lighter, but at least I have the money, but I did put it on my credit card so I can get the points but it will be paid off at the end of the month. I can now book the car in for mot and service and I will do the same with that as there's still enough to pay for it.
Daughter is doing fine, but I told her to take it easy, dgs went to nursery and dgd was at school all day so she sat and crocheted all day, makes a change as normally she's rushing around everywhere.
Lunch - LO soup and bread
Tea - veggie sausage and chips

Ps I took my treat money with me when I had my eyes tested but decided to come home instead!!£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund3 -
Today spent £5.50 at the community pantry
£10.47 at the land of lids
£4.40 at HBs
Total £20.37 which is more than I wanted to but I should have enough to last until I get paid again, even managed to get milk! So I have £60-£46.73=£13.27 left!! I have mire left than I thought so that's good!

WinterWarrior - I certainly did, some chocolate (goes without saying) and a few bits for Xmas, but I have a feeling not all will get that far!!
Booked my car in for mot and service next Wednesday, so that will be something else crossed off my list. The next thing after that will be trying to get someone to service the boiler, but I do need a little bit more cash for that, so anything over this month will probably go towards that.
I wish the news wasn't all doom and gloom, it goes from one thing to another, every few days a new catastrophe and if we believed it all I don't think we will make it to next year in one piece, so I'm going to stop watching it and just carry on the best I can; be careful, be positive, be kind and look after myself and others.
