Sun_Addict - The pup came in with one on his fur the other week and that was bad enough, I would hate to see one wandering around the house£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund3

Cherryfudge - I keep telling any pensioners I know to apply if they don't already receive it, but most have received letters saying they won't be receiving it. I was just worried it would be only the guaranteed pension credit receivers who would receive it.£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund3

Yesterday I went to the garden centre for my free coffee, I was listening to some YT whilst there, one of the things talked about was how Xmas trees came about, and I cant look at them in the same light again, but it wont stop me putting my little one up! I just hope it wasn't true as you have to take things with a pinch of salt and do some digging if you want to know the truth. I cant understand why people believe everything they read or told these days when there is so much sensationalism about for clicks/likes etc
Money wise I cant wait until Wednesday when I get paid and I can get down to some serious money shifting. I have £18 in my purse and not much more in my account, with very little in any of my sinking funds, so I need to get back on track and build up some money in the sinking fund accounts. The money from the cwp will be transferred straight away to the the G&E company, when I receive it (usually Dec/Jan) so at least I know I can have the heating on without watching the smart meter whiz around, mind you I'll still keep a sharp eye on it. I'm surprised how much it has gone up already.
I made lentil dhal yesterday so I'm having some more of that today for tea and tomorrow I'll have veggie mince and veggies for my main meal. I have plenty in the freezers so I'll be delving in them for meals to make room for any cheap veggies I come across. I haven't got anything big happening before Xmas, a local amateur panto, a Xmas dinner with my eldest dgd we are buying each others as Xmas presents so in other words we will halve the billand thats about it at the moment but I there will be other bits happening, dgc carol services etc. oh, and I notice that the Xmas adverts are back on the TV, I love watching them but it doesn't make me want to buy any of it, its the feel good factor I like!!!
Anyway, that's about it for today, its getting dark and colder now so I'm going to go and shut all the curtains and make a hot drink. Thank you everyone for the comments and I'm happy to back even if it's for getting back on track with things, it feels much better when you take control.

I don’t know whether it’s the same where you are but it’s been proper November weather here. Very misty and gloomy. Thank goodness for fairy lights to cheer things up.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Sun_Addict - Whilst I walking the dog earlier on I saw my first lit Xmas tree in some ones house, it looked lovely and I really enjoy seeing them but I do think its a tad early yet, not even all the shops have decorations up yet!!!
My fairy lights (solar) still come on outside, I'll have to put them away or they won't work next year.

Today I've only been out to take the pooch a walk and then we both got quite wet as it started raining sooner than I thought it would.
But I have been busy considering its a Sunday. This afternoon I decided to use one of my lemons and made a small pot of microwave lemon curd, I haven't used this method before but I was pleasantly surprised as it worked fine, It is one of Nancy Birstwhistles recipes and I will be doing it again, she also has a recipe for microwave shortbread so I thought I might have a go at that one as well nearer Xmas. With the leftover egg whites I put a meringue topping on some stewed fruit and cooked it in the air fryer, that will be eaten over the next few days for puddings.
For dinner I had leftover cauliflower/broccoli/pasta cheese it was only a small portion and needed eating and for tea I have another portion of lentil dhal over a jacket potato, and I'm feeling quite full.
I've been doing a bit of mending and knitting, and at the moment sat on the settee with the pooch sat on my feet!
So no money spent, no shops visited and all is well in my world at this moment in time.
I hope everyone has had a pleasant day.

I really look forward to seeing the Christmas trees and all the fairy lights coming on. You have some nice treats made and planned. The meringue topping sounds great to use up the egg whites; I put them in the freezer and then don’t always end up using them. I have enjoyed the recipes that I have tried from Nancy B. Microwave shortbread would be a good idea for me as my oven runs too hot for it. Is that on her website, or instagram? I might ask for her recipe book for Christmas!4

Moorviews - The lemon curd and shortbread are both in her 'The Green Budget Guide' She does put many recipes on her inst account. She also has a new book out 'Sizzle and Drizzle' that I think has more baking in it, but can't be sure. I'm hoping to get it for Xmas£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund4
