Baileys-Babe you're welcome. I used Doves and 1/2 the recipe, it made a 8 inch round.
I was Lucky to get a L:d: £1.50 veg box yesterday with a good selection of fruit and veg, 14 satsumas, 9 conference pears, 2 bags Brussels, leek, 2 finger peppers, 2 round peppers, savoy, carrots. all perfect, I fancy a sausage and cabbage casserole for dinner today with portions to spare for the freezer.
my car failed its MOT yesterday but all repairable. I have a savings pot to cover this.I love MSE, Thank you to all who share their journey and knowledge to reach their goals and live a good life on a small income.
2025 will be a year of necessary challenges and changes, and closing some doors permanently that don’t serve me or are not in my best interest.5 -
Enjoy the wedding, look forward to hearing about it and I expect others will do to xxx4

Thanks everyone ref the wedding
I had a beautiful day at my youngest daughters wedding, it was very long as I looked after her girls whilst she had her hair and makeup done (small dgs was with his dad getting ready) and I was at her house before 7.30 and didn't get very much sleep the night before as I was worried I wouldn't wake up in time, but I've made up for it over the last two nights!!
The day went like a dream, everything happened as it was meant to and there weren't any mishaps along the way. We all looked very smart - we scrubbed up well!!! It was lovely seeing my middle daughter albeit fleetingly as they came over for just a couple of days, but it was still nice seeing her in the flesh instead of over the internet!! I don't get to see all three dds at the same time, It was at the eldest's wedding last time
The pooch behaved himself next door and managed to get his paws under the table, and I thanked them by buying a very small bouquet from a local independent florist shop, I like to support local shops but I can understand the consumers problem because for the same price it would have been much larger from Tesc@
So I can now plan for Xmas, well that can be done in a couple of hours really, I just need to transfer money to dds for the kids and write messages in the cards that I made for them a few years ago. I have them all back each year after Xmas and write a new message in them each time before they are given to them again!! I'm hoping when I'm dead and gone they will become nice keep sakes for each of them, more likely get thrown outbut hey ho. Food wise I'll be using Tesc@ vouchers that I have been saving all year which will probably the last time as I want to try and not use sm's at all next year, I don't think I will achieve it but I can certainly use them a lot lot less!
The snow was pretty last night and there's still quite a bit about, someone cleared it off the top of my drive, but I had no need to go out and I'm trying to have a very low spend time up to Xmas and then I'm going to really save hard for my new carpet, settee, chair, shelves and reading lamp. I'm determined to get it completed in the first six months!!!! and after that I want to start on the hall, stairs and landing. That's the plan anyway.
I had something done to my wifi this afternoon, an upgrade to the present one so I had to reset every thing, well phone and laptop to the router!! I'm not tech savvy so that took me a time to actually find where I put the new password in, its easy when you know how but I hadn't a clue lol!!! All done now though other I wouldn't be able to type this
So tomorrow is another slow day and I only have to go the school to pick the girlies up for their teas, I'm hoping the snow has gone by then, I really dislike driving in the snow as I had a bad experience years ago on the hills around here, but at least the drive is more or less clear and as long as it doesn't snow anymore I should be ok and from past experience its always much clearer by the time we reach the main roads its just all the side roads around here! So I will go now and do a bit of knitting.

The wedding sounds like a perfect day. How lovely to have the family together, and I'm sure there will be photos soon too.
I really like the idea of the perennial Christmas cards. I doubt they'll be thrown out. More likely they will be treasured keepsakes and the recipients will get them out each Christmas and smile at the memories.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

It’s lovely to hear that the wedding was so enjoyable for you all 😊 You sound well organised for Christmas too!
I made Nancy’s shortbread and it was delicious. It browned a little inside so I will reduce the microwave power down to 700 and try that next time. I channeled my inner Nancy by grinding the rice and the sugar in a blender to make the ground rice and caster sugar.I hope you got on okay out in the snow.3 -
Would someone mind posting the shortbread recipes please? Would love to make some for Christmas as don't eat it any other time so would save a few pennies! Thank you.
