Oh a wedding! How exciting! I'm sure it will be a lovely day.

The slugs, on the other hand - what a pain they've been this year. If they were currency, every gardener would be rich, but as it is, we've all lost plants to them.

Enjoy the free coffee tomorrow! Our garden centre gives away coffee grounds for compost and has a recycling box for plant pots where you can give as many as you wish but also take what you want - very useful! Does yours do anything similar?

Cherryfudge - unfortunately not, no coffee grounds or taking surplus pots  :/

I think we'd all be slug millionaires several times over, its a shame there's no hedgehogs around here at the moment. Even the pup bought one in on his coat the other night - yuk!

Lovely to see you back again nannygladys 😊 I hope you all have a fantastic day at the wedding.

The slugs and snails have indeed been abundant this year and consumed nearly everything. A hedgehog has visited around my pots and did a good job on reducing numbers there. It must have been so full that it didn’t make it to the vegetable plot unfortunately.
It must have been difficult to give up the allotment but focusing nearer to home and having a very productive garden sounds like a great plan.

I missed your post about the winter fuel payment - fabulous to hear you'll be getting it!

I heard the last day to apply is December 21st, so I'll just mention that because it would be a shame if people missed a possible payment by applying too late (also check I've got the date right!). There is a big drive to get people of pension age to claim everything they're entitled to because lots of people will miss money they're entitled to and be suffering unnecessarily.

I expect you are getting ready for the wedding now: I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Moorviews -  I went looking at the parsnips the other day, they're in a huge tub and all their leaves had been eaten :( so I put some very old slug pellets in there, wow there were so many the next day and had a look this morning and removed loads more, all quite small so they are still breeding!! I usually rehome them over the fields but with it being so wet and muddy I couldn't be bothered!!!

Thanks TizerCat, I wasn't sure whether I would qualify or not as I'm in receipt of the savings pension credit not the guaranteed  pension credit.
