Avoid EON if you are changing suppliers. This company is a disgrace.Of the big 6 they have been the best I’ve ever dealt with…0 -
Are they looking to migrate everyone onto Next, even if you're already a DD payer?
We've been with Eon since April (not Next) on a fixed tariff.
I'm assuming that if they do migrate us across to Next we'll keep our deal until it expires?!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Yes all their customers are being moved to E.ON Next (on the kraken platform). I'd be surprised if you're not moved sooner rather than later. You'll stay on the same tariff until it ends.1

Is it actually better? More user friendly?

I've not been moved over yet so couldn't tell you. I only use the E.ON app which I find ok.0

Hi,
Some comments (not all directed at the same poster):
1. Ofgem permits energy companies to charge customers more if they are not paying by direct debit. If you don't do direct debit then you won't get the cheapest prices.
2. If you were previously paying quarterly but now EON are insisting that you pay by direct debit then there are two possibilities:
a) You were getting away with something outside their Ts&Cs before, they have now spotted this and are asking you to hold up your side of the bargain; or
b) You were within their Ts&Cs before and they are now trying to change your deal, you don't have to agree to this.
You need to understand what you agreed to (or what you acquiesced to) before you can determine which of the above is the correct position. Be aware that insisting on quarterly billing might make your electricity and gas more expensive.
3. The direct debit guarantee is pretty robust so there shouldn't be any need to fear direct debit. If the company makes a mistake, your bank gives you your money back, simple.
4. It really is your responsibility to make sure that bills are correct by comparing the numbers on your bills to the numbers on the meter, or regularly.giving meter readings. The days of regular meter reader visits are over. Hopefully smart meters will solve this problem but they are new and at the moment I would rely on them as far as I could throw them (and that is difficult as they are screwed to the walll!).
5. There is an expectation that with direct debit you build up surplus credit in your account in summer which you then spend in winter. Trying to avoid doing this will lead you into conflict with your supplier - feel free to try a different approach but I don't think it will be a fulfilling experience.2 -

Well, as suspected, we've just had the email to say that we'll be shortly being moved over to E.on Next.
Tariff, end date and DD will all stay the same.
One good thing appears to be going back to monthly bills, rather than quarterly. I like to keep on top of these things (and do have it all on a spreadsheet) but being able to reconcile every month is that little bit easier.
Lets hope its a smooth transition. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
I did an Eon next quote a few days ago and the kWh rates were extortionate over 33p for electric and 10p for gas with daily charges of just over 26p, which is what I would expect for daily standing charges it was a 24 month fixed rate I didn't go any further with the quote but even their other tariff was not much lower at over 23p & 7p with over 26p daily charges were a rip off. That was the only two options they gave me and the monthly DD would have being over £114 or £84.Someone please tell me what money is0
