Yes that is what i did. I spent all day yesterday and this morning looking. Variable options were cheaper but decided against that. Too much hassle switching again in a few months.

Decided to stick with AVRO. The cheapest renewal price was green who were around 10 pound a year cheaper then AVRO.

Wasnt worth the hassle of switching to a new company ive never dealt with. Avro have been brilliant for my parents, hassle free. Worth paying the extra 10 pound just to stick with  them.

I defo recommend AVRO to anyone - good prices and very easy to deal with
I have been with green in the past. The are a good company, easy to deal with and had a completely stress free 12 months.

There appear to be a lot of people have problems with contacting AVRO these days. Whether this is isolated or general I dont know.

Thats good to know for future. I just got off the phone to AVRO and was waiting for around 10-15 minutes max. No issues for me. Infact anytime ive called them (not many) in the last year ive got through after 10 - 15 minutes

If the saving was more then 10 pound (estimate) then i would have switched. But for the sake of 10 pound didnt really see the point plus my parents are around 600 pound in credit with Avro too.

They should pull £500 of that credit back .

I was thinking what to do with the credit. Is it worth leaving it in and withdrawing next year?

If their direct debit payments are the same this year and they have the same annul usage then they are just going to end up with an even bigger credit balance.

Personally I’d ask for some of that credit to be returned to their bank accounts or if possible lower the Avro direct debit amount so that the credit covers future payments but keep an eye on the overall balance and increase again if necessary.

The payments are the same but the prices have gone up in general for energy so ive worked out if i started fresh this year with no credit then the current DD price will pretty much be spot on for the whole year thus leaving no credit.

I asked them on the phone if i could leave the credit in and reduce the DD but to be honest i dont think the woman knew what she was talking about it as she waffled on saying i couldnt. She was basically basing it all on estimation rather then anything else. I wanted to reduce the DD to 100 instead of 165 but she said we couldnt. I know thats not true but couldnt bother arguing it.

I think a good idea is what JJ Egan suggested. Take 500 out leave 100 in to cover
  • Yeah I agree in that case it probably is best to ask for £500 to be returned!

Make that withdrawal request in writing - in a real letter !

Don't leave so much credit in. either take most of it out ASAP or get the direct debit reduced to £50, stating the account is in massive credit and you'd be happy for it to increase again once the value was nearer breakeven.

Ive manage to reduce the DD to £100 from £155. In theory it should break even by the end of the year the new renewal give or take a few pounds
