GAS/ELECTRIC RENEWAL - CANT FIND ANYTHING CHEAPER THEN WHAT I HAVE

I have looked at several energy comparison sites, most ask for e'mail address, to send you the tariffs, but Citizens Energy comparison doesn't, which is good.
I am also looking to switch, gas only, current supplier (used to be one of the cheaper ones), rates last year 0.025161kw 0.168 s/c, now the cheapest is o.033938kw 0.2415 s/c, this will mean an increase of over £120!!!
The cheaper suppliers on Citizens have bad customer reviews. Think my only option is to stay put and maybe go on variable (extra £12.00 on top of £120. year) and see what happens.0 -
If you need a disposable email address for this sort of thing, I use https://www.guerrillamail.com/And yes, gas is well over 3p/kWh now.

Yes, I've noticed the Citizens Energy comparison doesn't appear to offer the option of having your results emailed to you to digest at leisure. LOL!Foxy16 said:I have looked at several energy comparison sites, most ask for e'mail address, to send you the tariffs, but Citizens Energy comparison doesn't, which is good.

I'm not sure which other sites you were looking at.
You can find the full list of Ofgem accredited energy price comparison sites here:
https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/information-consumers/energy-advice-households/switching-energy-tariff-or-supplier
Actually, of the list of the 11 sites accredited, I have just checked 10 of them. Unfortunately The Energy Shop site would not load properly at this time for me. Perhaps a temporary blip?
Of the remaining 10 sites that did work, only 2 of the sites obligated you to provide an email address to see the results on screen.
Those 2 sites were MoneySupermarket and Quotezone.
Shame on them. But if you don't wish to provide them with your them with your email address because you don't want the results emailed to you, you can put in any email address as you will still see the results. I often choose the website's own email address if I don't want to receive a cop of the results.
I don't think Uswitch asks for an email address at all, at least not that I could see, which is perhaps a shortcoming of that site too.
All the other 7 sites did not obligate the insertion of any email address to view the results.
But they did provide the option to provide one if you wanted the results emailed to you.
Those sites are:
Energy Helpline
Energylinx
My Utility Genius
Runpath
Simply Switch
Switch Gas and Electric
Unravel It

I can recommend Zog as long as you are OK with a fairly basic offer in terms of website etc. For me at least they are usually 1 of, if not the, cheapest gas suppliers.Foxy16 said:I have looked at several energy comparison sites, most ask for e'mail address, to send you the tariffs, but Citizens Energy comparison doesn't, which is good.

Energy prices are only going 1 way atm so I personally would suggest a fixed tariff atm. Indeed, my Zog fixed tariff ends this Friday & I am renewing but at a significant uplift from last year's rates.1 -
I am with Zog been with them many years, and have always found them excellent, but shocked at how much their prices have increased.BUFF said:

Every supplier's prices have rocketed. Zog has the 3 cheapest fixed tariffs for my usage but it isn't the cheapest for variable - it's up to you whether to go with variable & risk just how much an almost certain increase will be come ~October or settle for the comfort of knowing that your rates are fixed for a year albeit at a higher rate than the best current variable rates.Foxy16 said:I am with Zog been with them many years, and have always found them excellent, but shocked at how much their prices have increased.1 -
Perhaps fix your rate with a supplier who offers a low exit charge.
I had the same issue last month between deciding to fix with zog or so energy. In the end I chose so energy, although the unit rate was slightly higher than zog, their exit charge is only 5 pounds as opposed to 30 with zog, and I managed to balance it out by using a £40 referral code.
Never been with zog, but everyone on the forum always speaks very highly of them. According to their website they don't read smart meters yet, but I suspect that will come.
I would agree with others and suggest a fixed rate is more bankable than variable rates at the moment as the priced will keep going up. There are some rumblings that it might go down after the winter, but nobody really knows. I wish now I fixed earlier in the Yr when the unit rates were still below 3p!!1 -
Zog do have a 12month fixed rate, no exit fee which is only £5.00 a year dearer than one with a £30. exit fee, but I am assuming the exit fee only applies if you move to another supplier not stay with Zog and try to switch to one of their lower tariffs, if by any chance prices dropped.0

I was always on the Fixed Tarif but it looks like variable is the better option this time. I do hate variable
Its a shame the prices going up so much0 -
I do agree with the companies that have poor reviews or no reviews. Its a risk. Last thing you want to do is have a battle with companies that supply energy for you. It may be worthwhile paying that little bit extra for a reputable company.
I said it before and ile say it again, AVRO were amazing in price and customer service. Their reviews on are 5 star everywhere. Really wish i could stay with them1
