WARNING! Lebara deal is great BUT they don't offer wifi calling!

Hi all,
I just switched to Lebara via the MSE special deal, but have just had to cancel everything as I have found out they don't offer wifi calling.  We live in a rural area with no Vodafone signal in the house, so as Lebara uses the Vodafone network I assumed I could continue with using the Vodafone Wifi calling service I have been using to date.  Just got off a long 'Live chat' where I was told they don't offer the service, and couldn't say when they would.  The are going to cancel the contract for me, and the number porting etc. and refund the payment already made.  It's a great deal, but not if it means I can't use my phone in my house!  Back to Vodafone for me......:(

Very few MVNOs support VoLTE or VoWiFi but that's slowly changing. There's a reason why they are so cheap!

    Have you looked at Voxi?

This makes no sense.  If you get no Vodafone signal why are you going back to them?

And it isn't a trade secret that Lebara piggybacks onto Vodafone, but that's something you probably should have checked beforehand...

Probably said in jest, but I do think using WiFi calling should actually be cheap - you are paying for the WiFi to do 1/3 the leg work!

Lebara should be getting 4G Calling and WiFiCalling (as well as 5G service) later this year.

Got a weird message 'body is 9 characters too short' trying to post the below!

<3 great article - thanks - always worry that MVNO will swap networks (like asda & virgin)! <3

Also one there that suggests Vodafone looking to grow MVNO share!  Exciting times.  Though I just had a thought - is winning more MVNO business the route that has seen retentions deals crumble?

  • I notice that MSE is still listing WiFi Calling as a service offered by Lebara.
I too joined them after EE dropped their 'Signal Box' service and I was left with no connection in the house with Plusnet.
Lebara tell me they intend to offer the service in the future but won't give me any indication as to when. Just to answer a question elsewhere in this thread, Lebara do use Vodafone's network bur Vf offer Wifi Calling now and Labara are unable to give me access to it.
  • Got my 1p/month Lebara sim yesterday. Wi-fi calling working just fine (Samsung A52s, Android 12).

To reinforce Mr Lobster's post, Lebara's wifi calling works just fine for me. It has been available for a while now. Vodafone's signal is virtually non existent at my location so wifi calling is active the majority of the time!
Two different sims in two separate Poco phones (F3 and X3).
