YouGov will not let me (any many others it seems) redeem their rewards!

  • Cashed my points this morning and got the money in my bank account a few hours later. I used the Android app to request the payout.

Thank you chembleton, I took your advice and after requesting payment in April I finally received £50 at the end of May. Now time to cancel yougov, the questions are loaded so you can't even give the answer you want! Thank goodness we have MSE to give us advice and all of the members of course.
  • Hi.

So as you may know polling company YouGov pays approximately 50p for each survey they send you and eventually when you get to 5000 points you can redeem this for £50 cash.

I've been with YouGov since about 2003 and have redeemed about 8 x £50 since then. It can be a long arduous road but you get there eventually.

Recently I got to my latest £50 but have been unable to redeem this as I keep getting a "Oops.. Something Went Wrong" page. The advice on their support page (just a prewritten FAQ section) is to try alternate browser or device, which I've done without success.

It's interesting they have such a section advising what to do if you encounter the Oops page rather than just trying to fix it. Anyway, it then says if this doesn't work to contact them via web page submission.

I've done this three times, emailed them, Tweeted them but I'm getting no where. Other people on Twitter are also saying the same thing.

I'm still continuing to receive surveys to fill out but they seem reluctant to pay out and/or fix the problem.

    Anyone else having this issue?

    Thanks,
    Chris.

Hi, I was having the same problem and was advised to contact the Market Research Society (codeline@mrs.org.uk). As soon as they got involved I quickly received an email from YouGov and got my £50 by BACS.  Funny that.

I just got enough points to cash out, but after entering my name, address etc. and choosing a bank account, whenever I click on 'Redeem', it keeps going back to that page - I've contacted them about it so I'll see what they say (probably the same old thing about clearing my cache and cookies).

I've just tried using Firefox instead of Chrome - I just get the same thing.
Edit: I've just e-mailed the Market Research Society but, as with YouGov, I haven't heard anything yet.

Just got a reply from YouGov saying they'll send me the money as a BACS payment into my account if I confirmed my name, address and bank details.

Just got another reply saying they've taken the points out of my account and I should get the money soon (but it might take about three or four weeks) and they've also put about 200 points into my account as an apology for all the hassle.

I've been trying to redeem from my Direct Wallet but, no matter what browser or device I use, it just won't work.
I've raised a help ticket and they replied giving me 100 points and saying they were looking at it.

Just got the money - apparently it came into my account on 30 August.

My tale is similar to many above. I have cashed out several times over past years with no problem at all, but this year all I get is the persistent oops message.

I have followed all the guidance, tried different browsers and devices, even added a different bank account. Nothing helped.

So, for the past couple of months I have been contacting their ‘help’. I am now at the stage where they’ve given me 200 points for inconvenience, asked me to confirm my details by email, deducted the 5,000 points manually and promised me a BACS payment within “a few weeks”.

I will let you know how long it takes, currently 2 weeks and still waiting!
