It also provides cover for one vehicle registered to the Nationwide FlexPlus current account holder and beingused with their permission. Where the account is in joint names two vehicles can be covered"

The bit they did get right, however, was about vehicle registration:

"You do not need to call to register your cover or vehicle as cover begins immediately upon opening your Nationwide
    FlexPlus current account."

So what happens if - as in the OP's case - you have multiple vehicles registered in your name?
Who decides which vehicle is being covered ?

As stated in the T&Cs any car that the account holder is in at the time that the break down occurs.

The OP simply doesn’t get the fact that as their son isn’t an account holder then they are not covered and won’t be unless they open their own Flex Plus account with NationWide.

Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

The OP. They are then also covered for any other car that they are in, whether it’s theirs or not.

They seem nonplussed that another car being driven by someone else isn’t also covered, but it seems pretty reasonable that it isn’t.

On a practical level having used this service, to actually call out the breakdown cover you need the card details when you phone up so you would have to give the additional driver those details which seems unlikely or have you make the call on their behalf which may be impractical. I also recall them saying over the phone that the recovery driver would check our card to confirm entitlement - they didn't and t&cs would suggest it might not be a requirement but the driver won't necessarily know that if they were a stickler for details. If there is a car registration system to sidestep these issues we've not been made aware of it as account holders.

Op needs family member to sign up at quidco fast.
They have a £30 bonus on car breakdown cover.
Just done Green flag "Recover Plus" £38.08. You get £10 cashback on that. Add in the £30 bonus & I'm actually being paid to take it out 😁

    On the nationwide website it says;
    • Your vehicle is covered even if you’re not driving
As long as the driver has your permission and is legally allowed to drive.

I have the same account and cover and same situation with multiple vehicles. Nationwide documentation is very clear that vehicle is covered on car basis as well as cover for account holder in other cars so your statement about son is wrong. As posted below:

You can't blame them for not wanting to cover non customers driving random cars
It's hardly random if it's owned by the account holder
