Annoying Drivers Vent!

Nah not for all of them: They manoeuvre, then signal belatedly, then look in the mirrors to see if they are giving the finger to the correct car.AdrianC said:

You forgot another rule -prowla said:theatretony said:
That is ANOTHER bug bear of mine. People who indicate to turn but brake before indicating.prowla said:The car indicates right to turn into a side street and slows down to make their manoeuvre.
The procedure I remember is to indicate your intention FIRST then brake so I know you are braking for the turn you indicated for. Not put your brakes on, then indicate!!
Or even worse, the ones who do not indicate at all on roundabouts/junctions (when necessary) I usually say under my breath 'I'll indicate for you!!!'Ah - not using indicators correctly on roundabouts...The apparent rules:- If turning left, don't indicate.
- If going straight on, indicate right to show you're not turning left.
- If going right, don't indicate, as that would mean you are going straight on.
- If you are indicating right for any reason, leave the indicator on when taking the exit and let it self-cancel.
- Under no circumstances whatsoever should you do what it says in the Highway Code.
At a roundabout, try to cause confusion by indicating left just as you approach the exit BEFORE yours, so other road users believe you are exiting earlier and pull out in front of you.
“Like a bunch of cod fishermen after all the cod’s been overfished, they don’t catch a lot of cod, but they keep on fishing in the same waters. That’s what’s happened to all these value investors. Maybe they should move to where the fish are.” Charlie Munger, vice chairman, Berkshire Hathaway0 -
Yep, I get peed off with drivers in front who are doing the correct (indicated) speed, say 40 in a 40 for example, breaking unnecessarily at speed cameras.zagfles said:
Or more generally those who brake at every speed camera because they haven't got a clue what the speed limit is or what speed they're doing. They simply do not understand that they are generally only doing 37-38 at an indicated 40, and the speed camera will not go off unless they reach a true 46mph (speed limit +10% +2mph).

Yes these are just idiots who are clueless to the concept of what an average speed camera does.ontheroad1970 said:

I remember driving back from the south coast a couple of weeks ago. There are long roadworks on the M27 with average speed cameras @ 50mph.
As usual I set my speed limiter to indicated 55mph (actual gps speed around 50-51) and sat at that speed throughout.
Lady drives past me doing 65+, braking to <50 for the camera then accelerating again.
10 mins or so later, after the roadworks, I pass her, I'm doing indicated 75 (gps around 70-71) and she's still doing about 65.
I got to my destination quicker than her, and without a ticket!!!

Maybe she set the cruise control and doesn't know how to switch it off/change it. 😅Steve182 said:

Yup that's what I do, similarly outside roadworks on motorways and dual carriageways with the normal 70 limit I set my cruise control to 74 (actual 70). Sometimes when in the outside lane overtaking cars doing 68-69 the occasional impatient idiot comes up behind who seems to expect me to either break the speed limit or pull in and slow down behind cars in the middle lane.

That's a good one - I blame the schools for not explaining what "average" means.ontheroad1970 said:

And, OTR... BRAKE!1 -
I was having a few drivers do that to me on the A3. A lovely police biker saw what was happening and went ahead of me - they didn't dare do it to him!BOWFER said:If you think car-to-car behaviour is bad, try car-to-bike behaviour.
One example is car drivers deliberately blocking you as you try and filter down traffic.
It's not so long ago I stopped beside one and when he put his window down to rant I just responded with "would you rather I was another car in front of you?"
That's literally the choice mate, I'm on my bike filtering past you or I'm another car in front of you.
I nearly failed my bike test because there was an opportunity to filter and I didn't take it. The examiner asked "what's the point of riding a bike in Bristol if you don't make use of the advantages?".0 -
I find that most HGV drivers are great. Especially when I'm on the bike.Stubod said:1/ ..driving at the speed limit and getting overtaken.....then when the speed limit ends being stuck behind the overtaker??2/ ..most hgv drivers as they are very inconsiderate to other drivers..
But I did pass one who was clearly reading a novel at the wheel. On the M40. He was easy to spot as he kept weaving between lane 1 and the hard shoulder.0
