Annoying Drivers Vent!

The Government should start an advertising campaign... "The middle lane, for people who can't drive!"

That is ANOTHER bug bear of mine. People who indicate to turn but brake before indicating.prowla said:The car indicates right to turn into a side street and slows down to make their manoeuvre.
The procedure I remember is to indicate your intention FIRST then brake so I know you are braking for the turn you indicated for. Not put your brakes on, then indicate!!
Or even worse, the ones who do not indicate at all on roundabouts/junctions (when necessary) I usually say under my breath 'I'll indicate for you!!!'Ah - not using indicators correctly on roundabouts...The apparent rules:- If turning left, don't indicate.
- If going straight on, indicate right to show you're not turning left.
- If going right, don't indicate, as that would mean you are going straight on.
- If you are indicating right for any reason, leave the indicator on when taking the exit and let it self-cancel.
- Under no circumstances whatsoever should you do what it says in the Highway Code.

Nah. For slow drivers just get past them when safe so to do and let them continue in their own little world, oblivious as they are to their dithering and lack of awareness. For the nutters who hare up behind or drive too close, let them past at the first opportunity and leave them to it. They can have their accident in someone else's boot.Biggus_Dickus said:Every driver will do things that rile other drivers from time to time. Sometimes it’s a justified reaction and other times it’s just a perception issue because said ‘riled’ driver hasn’t understood or appreciated what you did and why you did it.
Anyone who thinks their driving is always so perfect that they never ‘annoy’ other drivers is delusional.
Notwithstanding the obvious motoring nutters of course, but getting yourself aggravated about every perceived misdemeanour committed by other drivers isn’t good for ones blood pressure. A little forbearance is usually all that’s required.

“Steering activated indicators”
Amazing how many cars have this feature3 -
I haven’t experienced it myself but I’ve heard it said that there are drivers who indicate left when they’re going right and vice versa because they don’t know the difference.
Of course that’s in a slightly different category to annoying or irritating.

The trouble with overtaking these slower drivers is the sheer arrogance of some of them.Username03725 said:

They want to dictate the speed and you're the idiot, even if you overtake perfectly safely.
I've had them furiously flash their lights, I've even had them report me (back when the police paid attention to reports like this).

I remember driving on the A82 from Crianlarich in the Scottish Highlands south, and I had a driver in front of me from there til Dunbarton who would slow right down for every oncoming car. The moment I tried to overtake him, he would speed up. This happened all the way to Tarbet on the shores of Loch Lomond when I breathed a sigh of relief and literally shouted hurray when he indicated right to take the A83 towards Lochgilphead. My joy was short-lived. Yes he indicated right, and yes, he took the right hand lane. Yes, he took a hard left right in front of me and went back to his previous behaviours...
Basically wherever it was safe to pass him, he would speed up and block me, and he would go down to 15-20mph where it would be suicidal lunacy to pass.0 -
If you think car-to-car behaviour is bad, try car-to-bike behaviour.
One example is car drivers deliberately blocking you as you try and filter down traffic.
It's not so long ago I stopped beside one and when he put his window down to rant I just responded with "would you rather I was another car in front of you?"
That's literally the choice mate, I'm on my bike filtering past you or I'm another car in front of you.1
