Next door neighbour has built a monstrosity

Options
Hi

Does anyone know where I stand with this ?

Next door have are finishing off building a huge outdoor building. Basically a very large shed with a chimney. It's less than 1m from our boundary and is around 4-5m tall. It completely blocks our view of the lovely hills behind it.

I wouldn't mind but they didn't even discuss it with us.

Anyone know where I stand legally ?

Thanks in advance

    Photo?

Contact the planning department if it's that tall.  Are you sure it's that big?  My house is only 5.5 metres tall!

Your view isn't protected - if you want to preserve it, you have to buy the view, but there are permitted development rules that should be adhered to.

Looks like the only place the view would be blocked is from the corner of your garden.

Well it's less than 2m away from my fence and over 2.5m high and he doesn't have planning permission

I was expecting something a lot bigger/more imposing than this to be honest.

Surely the trees behind it are blocking the view anyway?
No that is the back of the garden. The view of the countryside is to the right of his 'shed'

Send the photo to the local planning dept and ask for their views on the 'shed'

That looks fairly compliant to me.  Less at the eaves than at ridge height, which isn't 5 metres tall.

Your view is mainly blocked by the massive conifers.

Live and let live.  It isn't a monstrosity.

You wouldn't be saying that if you were sat in my garden

    and it isn't compliant.
