Enjoy your chocolate xThe door is closed for me trying to make changes. I think it’s the realisation that you are who you are. I’m aware I might not be putting it right when writing it down.I mean I’m just turning my energies to other things. I’m not being disappointed that people are what they will always be.I think he’s just grateful of help. It’s uncomplicated help too as I don’t expect anything of him in return.XSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

I’ve done the shower! It’s a patch up job really to keep it going for another year as there’s an issue with one of the panels. It’s drying so I’ll leave it a few days before I try it to see if it’s worked.Last day of working from home tomorrow. It’s had its benefits especially during the storm. Equally it’s been difficult not being allowed out. Going to the bin has been an adventure!Im tired tonight. Working on a laptop isn’t good for my eyes. I can feel them burning
grateful to be able to do work from home though.I’ve got all my accounts set up now ready for January with standing orders in place. I’ve got things allocated to different pots so hopefully can make progress. My biggest challenge to overcome is learning how to save. I’ve never been able to sustain any form of saving and I really need to do this. Does anyone have any ideas? I’ve tried ISAs, slow access, no card, none of them work for me.September 2017 Debt = £25330

You sound really organised and great work on the shower! I’m impressed.Re savings, the only thing that’s ever worked for me is a stocks and shares ISA that I have with Vanguard - money is automated out on my payday so I don’t even notice. It’s a very minimal amount at the moment while I pay off debt but I barely even notice the payment going out because it crosses my pay coming in. It’s also quite hard to access so there’s no easy way to get it if I just want to splurgeCredit Card 1 - £6249.99 £4,900
 Credit Card 2 - £13,481.47 £12,985
 Total debt - £19,731.46 £17,885
 Emergency fund £9302

The way of saving that’s worked for me is to commit to a monthly regular saver that you can’t touch for a year. The interest is reasonable depending on the amount you can afford to save. I’ve got one with the Halifax where you can save between £25 and £250 a month but you have to fix the amount and one with the Coventry where you can save anything up to £500 a month, variable to suit you.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

I save using an ISA but my most successful savings are in accounts I can't get access to easily, accounts I forget about, I might pay up to a 100 pounds across four accounts, and ignore them. That is how I have kept money around... not much! but enoughNevertheless she persisted.2

Thanks Sun, I’m going to have to do something drastic! XSun_Addict said:The way of saving that’s worked for me is to commit to a monthly regular saver that you can’t touch for a year. Yeah, I think my history of paying out lots of bits, I just see it as a "bill" ages ago I had 4 accounts and paid 25 into each, I never added it up and listed it as a bill in my accounts but it worked as each account had a little bit in it but then all together it was over a grand. I have to trick myself with silly games otherwise it doesn't happen. Which I know is daft!!Willowtree222 said:
