It sounds like the perfect break for all 4 of you and it's lovely that you are all having such a great time.  Are your DD and nephew similar in age?  I had brothers and a sister so was never short of companionship at home and on family holidays but I had a cousin who was an only child and my aunt and uncle used to like me to spend time with them (they lived about 100 miles from my own home) during school holidays as company for their daughter.  It was fine by me, they took me to some interesting places and weren't short of money either. When we were really young it was fun but my cousin, Margaret, is 5 years older than me and once she approached her teens ( like she was 12 and at Grammar School and I was still only 7) the age gap showed and we didn't have much in common any more really.  She seemed so 'grown up' and I don't think she wanted a little kid tagging along all the time!
Yeah there’s only 18 months between them. Sometimes that age gap shows and the fact they also have different interests but they do play well mostly.

I can see how that age gap was too much as you got older. At those ages there’s a lot of difference.

  • Thank you,

We came home last night. Got home about 9pm as forecast for today was rain all day and we decided to get home.

Had a lovely week but came home to a dead fish unfortunately and a then very upset DD. We sent him to fish heaven.

Boot sale things are getting picked up this morning. I’ve been in the loft moving things round and getting it all out. The amount of space up there now is incredible! It just so much less cluttered. There’s still a long way to go up there as there’s tons of paperwork in boxes that I need to get rid of.

I bought some motorbike books and I’ve had to send them back this morning. The zip is broken on them which means they don’t zip past a certain point.

Just had the biggest shock. Sat in the conservatory and saw something out of the corner of my eye. Huge spider 🕷 crawling towards my shoulder. Never moved so fast in my life. I screamed it scared me that much. It was huge. I really can’t cope with spiders. Little ones I can deal with but not big ones. They frighten me and this was well past my comfort zone.

I’m all unpacked now and have the majority of things sorted from being away. I just need to bring the extensive items going down the stairs. That will take about an hour!

Have a good day everyone x

Glad you enjoyed your holiday,it sounded like the perfect break. I am also on a decluttering mission now except I don't bother selling anything it just goes to the charity shop. Two bags of clothes from DD went today 🎉🎉my loft is rammed and badly needs clearing out but I can't face it at the moment. I'm going to focus on the lived in areas of the house then sort the loft last or all the crap from the house will end up in the loft 😀

    Evening everyone,

The job lot got collected this morning. There were tons of items in there that now have a new home. That’s my mission for the holidays complete! It took the whole of the hall up with all the stuff.

I’m tired today after the week and drive home last night.

    Goodnight everyone x

  • Glad you had a great holiday 😁. I have taken 2 sacks of stuff to the charity shop - quite sad as both my boys have outgrown lots of their books & now read to themselves so lots of those went & sold a pair of football boots .  Still s or 4 items to goon selling sites too.

    thanks for the nudge xx
