So sorry you are having such a difficult time.  Don't be too hard on yourself, you will recover financially, when your head is in the right place.  Take care :)

Sorry to hear about the relative, taken far too soon. Take some time for yourself to regroup before you get back on it x

Thanks, it's been such a huge unexpected shock and loss.
I have booked a holiday and go on Thursday until Tuesday. The funeral is the day after I get back, but the chill time before is needed after the year so far. The sad reality is we know it is going to get worse.

I'm just ticking over with finances. They're not great at all, but not on a scale they have been in the past.

I'm hoping the holiday is the reset I need before we deal with another loss.

So sorry to hear such sad time. Agree with others, take some time for yourself and try not to think too far ahead. Hope you manage to relax on your break, finances can take a step back whilst you deal with the next few weeks.xx

    Sorry to read this mate.

Enjoy your holiday. Regarding the finances, perhaps make the majority of the money available to you very hard to get so you don't make snap decisions when things are so difficult.

Thanks for your kind words. We got to the airport this morning and found a 4 hour delay. So that's 7 hours sat around.

I'm not sure if I've posted on here but DD is autistic and can find a lot of things very overwhelming. We're in the special assistance zone, though, and it's quieter here, which will help, but it just makes the day harder and longer.

I've got my money journal with me. I've never brought it on holiday with me before. I'm hoping I find the head space to work a few things out and come back with a plan.

I'm focusing on the positives that I've still been doing. Otherwise, the amount of rubbish going on just builds up.

    1) My christmas saving card is almost paid off, so I should have £400 for gifts. This buys the bulk of wraps up for everyone and the wider family gifts.
    2) Next month, I'm down into the next 10k bracket on my mortgage.
    3) I did my summer work and managed to earn around 4.5k extra after tax. I wanted this to pay for insurance and emergency funds, but it might have to clear some of the debt.
    6) My spending hasn't been totally on me. I've bought DD her high school uniform that has reached around £500. It cost me £102 to have two blazers altered. Everything, including the PE kit, is branded, so it's been something I've needed to spend.. Blazers were almost £50 each before the alterations. I've tracked back, and there's so much that would have been needed this summer.
    7) The holiday has been paid outright

It's not justifying my lack of control. I'm aware of where I am and where I need to be, but at least I can actually sit down and see I've maintained so many positives, and I can come back from this.

Have a good holiday , sounds like you are on the same flight as my work colleague if you have gone from our local airport. Have some downtime not worrying about money and enjoy the sun.

Possibly. It's up to a 6 1/2 hour delay now.
    DD still wants to go.
They only offered  £8.50 in food vouchers up to now.
