These kids eh? But it is hard to say no. I buy most of our food from M0rri3sons click and collect. I have to try to find the time to get to one of the budget supermarkets to see if I can get the avocado and halloumi delicacies any cheaper 🤔 I will let you know.....ancientmum said:Tight pants, same with my Ds3. Although he is not veggie/vegan so I spend more on meat and fish.
So, last week it was £20 at the butcher and £8 at the fishmonger but some was frozen for later in the month. Added to this was £8.61 at Sains for milk bread, fruit and veg, a total of £36.61.6 -
@Tightpants24 - if there's a M*rks Food Hall near you they are currently selling ripen-at-home avocados for 65p and if your DD would swap the halloumi for feta Sains are selling 200g Greek Salad Cheese for 75p (its an Ald* price match).7

Hi,DaffyDaisies said:I've not done this before but would be interested in doing the August challenge - when is that likely to start? Thought we were doing really well for grocery shopping (recently started going to a farm shop for Longley products, bread, eggs etc.) and then a weekly Moshishons delivery, but told today we spent £450 at the supermarket last month, and there are only three of us! I would like to cut it down a bit but my dad's quite fussy now (won't eat leftovers, gets bored of things easily etc.), and I struggle to eat a variety of foods (I have achalasia), so I'm wondering where we could trim it. We do get 9 pints of milk delivered a week, which is £6.80 a week, but I like the glass bottles rather than plastic and it being local
My mum is very similar in regards to leftovers - if however i 'batch cook' it's not an issue.
I think it stems from growing up poor and leftovers being stigmatised, whereas with batch cooking you are just getting ahead and making life easier.
Could be worth a try?

A couple of spends to declare, a quick trip to Sains on Friday when i couldn't face Lidl after a hectic day of play dates and swimming lessons. Didn't go mad though - £17.30.
This was mostly on DD - £5 on pampers nappies (i use reuseable during the day but disposable overnight and she seems to have developed an allergy to Lidl ones!!) And £5 on some oaty bars in a different flavour to what i can get at Lidl.
Faced up to Lidl on Saturday - again not too bad at £69.98, although i went late in the day and it was fairly rensacked so will likely need a top up shop.
Total to date - £199.39/£450.00 - £250.61 remaining
I did my freezer stock take and am running that down, however probably not enough tpo see me through the month.
Planning a lazy meals of omelette beans once a week, at least one veggie meal a week, repurposing some meatballs for a couple of stirfrys (i always find a stirfry stretches meat quite well) and hopefully manage to get a few yellow sticker deals to extend us through.

Sainsburys are doing something with their Nectar data. I stopped using our Nectar card for 4 weeks and when I used it got a spend £50 save £7.50 till voucher. Today I got a spend £60 and save £9 voucher, valid for just over a week. Each voucher works out at 15% off.
If you have a Nectar card, stop collecting points for a few weeks and see if you get these vouchers as well.- Grocery Challenge: April £263.60 / £250

Oh week before last I also got a spend £40 on Tu clothing at Sainsburys and get 8p off a litre of fuel. Valid until today. Well today I've spent the £40 on clothing, got the 8p off voucher and have spent the voucher and saved £4 off a full tank of fuel.
Oh and the clothes are going straight back for a full refund.
Thanks Sainsburys!- Grocery Challenge: April £263.60 / £250

We've been very lazy, we haven't eaten a lot of our meal plan and I still haven't done a shop. We had to have our cat PTS on Saturday after a short illness so we are feeling a bit lost. £26.18 on some bits from coop and fish and chips (usually wouldn't pay for this from the grocery budget, but thought why not just this once).
