Tesco credit card - payment notification

Since last month (May 2021) I've been receiving email notifications from Tesco Bank saying this:
Your Tesco Bank Credit Card Team
Payment for your Tesco Bank Credit Card ending XXXX is due in 10 days.
Please ignore this message if you've already made your minimum payment.
To make a payment, go to Online Banking or use our Mobile App.
If you need to call us or if you have any questions, please get in touch with us.
Yours sincerely,
Your Tesco Bank Credit Card Team
I have a 0.00 balance on both cards (have done so for ages).
Take it their system isn't sophisticated enough to detect the 0.00 balance?

Are you sure the emails are from Tesco bank? I have one of their credit cards which has a balance on it but I do not receive emails like that. You should be able to block such emails. I wouldn't respond to any of them, just block them. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. I have a Tesco Bank card I barely use but I don't get emails like this. I'm fairly sure there's an option somewhere in your online banking settings to enable/disable account updates like this.0

I too have a Tesco Bank credit card and do not receive emails like that.
Edit: It is indeed in online settings under Manage Alerts
This is why I have never received one.1 -
I'm sure. The sender email address is: noreply@ems.tescobank.com. That address has been sending me notifications since 2018 when I have a statement available etc. so, no, it's not a scam (phishing) email.MalMonroe said:Are you sure the emails are from Tesco bank? I think some are missing the point, I know there is an option to disable these, but I don't want to disable them because if I do use the cards I want to receive a notification reminding me that a payment is due. Just don't need to receive unnecessary alerts when there is no need for an alert (no balance).
Edit: no one's picked up (commented) on the first few words in my OP. i.e. 'Since last month (May 2021) ....'
I've had these alerts enabled since donkey's years, yet never received an alert when the balance was 0.00. It's only since last month I started to receive these (I've not made any changes to the alerts since setting them up years ago).0 -
Makes sense to me.OceanSound said:

"If balance>0 send email otherwise don't send email" - (I'm not a coder, as you can see
)

I suspect that the system is set up to just issue an alert if no payment has been received within 10 days of the payment due date - it's hasn't been configured to recognise that no payment is actually due.The simplest way around this is just to set up a direct debit - for the minimum payment if you must, though for the full balance ideally. No more notifications, and no chance of you forgetting to pay if you're away on holiday or whatever.

I know about the advantages of Direct Debit (DD). However, didn't specifically want a DD setup because I wanted to pay these cards using the Halifax Debit card. That way I meet one of the requirements for the Halifax current account reward. i.e. using debit card for payment over 500 pounds.Ebe_Scrooge said:OceanSound said:

Anyway, I've been making payments to other credit cards, so not been using tesco bank credit card for months.I suspect that the system is set up to just issue an alert if no payment has been received within 10 days of the payment due date - it's hasn't been configured to recognise that no payment is actually due.still dosne't explain how come it started last month (May 2021). I've not made any payment (had a statement balance) on either of the tesco bank credit cards for months. There weren't notifications in Arpil or before (when balance was 0.00) and now there is.

It must really interfere with your daily routine receiving an unnecessary email, I'd ask for compensation.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0

I got one last month too.
Had a bit of a panic when I got it as I hadn't spent on the card in about a year.
Normally only get them when I've a balance to pay.
I assumed it was a glitch. Checked my balance to ensure no one had spent on it and ignored it.0
