Personally I would say you have a fair case for a refund from eBay based on that misleading "product page" that promises you three items for a price and then silently changes it to one when you click through to buy it. To me, that's an error. I would try and raise it with eBay rather than with the seller. Good luck getting them to acknowledge the problem through!

I agree having played with that page and what happens when I put it in my watch list - ebay seem to have a glitch.

All credit to you, lammy82, for your research-led previous reply.  It certainly redirects my wrath from the seller towards eBay itself.  That just leaves me with a choice of write the loss off or find some way of getting eBay to recognise and correct their error.
I've seen a comment on eBay saying that
"that is ebays attempt to be Amazon"
Which I assume is referring to the aggregation of similar products - although I've only noticed this with Amazon reviews - not (yet) with vital offer details such as here.  It also suggests that I'm not the first to stub my toe on this issue.
In the mean time I'll keep a lookout for that "See all 8 brand new listings" option and make sure that one of them really is what is being offered.  (Quoting that from the page you referred to - where there are not eight offerings, and not one of the four that there are is an offer of "3x").   Huh...

Not sure if this is any help but i purchased an item quantity 3 from a seller and they sent only 2. They wrote saying they had proof the item was delivered and i said only two came in the package (no holes or anything). Despite me saying to them to check the weight of their sent parcel (as 2 would def weigh more than 3 in my case) i lost out and couldn't do anything. I wrote to them about 15 times but never heard anything back.

Thanks for that.  My problem appears to be eBay- rather than seller-related.
The common factor is how "wild west" eBay is. Caveat Emptor.
As an aside, another eBay order:- Quantity 2; 5x Bags of Salt is now overdue here.  What are the odds on ten bags of salt eventually being delivered?

More likely to get the correct number delivered if the correct number were ordered.  Far less likely to get 10 if only 1 was ordered.

As above, the seller cannot change the item you bought after you commit to buy, so your purchase on your bought page will show the 3 . Just open a SNAD.
Not sure how it currently works but previously if a listing was changed the details in the Purchase History also changed, i.e eBay was showing the current listing title in the Purchase History list, perhaps this is what OP means as maybe the seller messed up the title on the listing and then corrected it. (Not that any of this affects what OP should do).
Changing the current listing does not change the details of the listing on the buyers sold page. It will change the link, so if someone checks using an old link it will go to the new listing, but the historical one will not change.
As I say it may have changed but going back around 3 years if the seller updated the title or main image that's what you saw in the Purchase History.

There used to be a link for "view purchased item" or something similar which would show you a hard copy of what the listing looked like at the time you purchased but I can't seem to find this any more.

It is easy to see you purchase history and the item you purchased from the listing you purchased from.
You can go to the item on the live listing page and if it has been relisted or amended it will show you - with a link to your view order details.

Or you can go via your MY EBAY to VIEW ORDER DETAILS

On this one if I go to the relisted item I see this

And if I click VIEW ORDER DETAILS I see this

The listing I view on the VIEW ORDER DETAILS is the exact listing as I clicked BIN.

The order details doesn't show you much, this is what I was looking for:

    Which takes you to this:

Rather than just the revision notes which gives a general breakdown of changes that link shows each aspect of the listing exactly as it was when you purchased (page is longer than the screen grab).
