Car hit me from behind. He said it was my fault

I'd prefer mine with an sd card slot - then I could buy the 32GB one and use a 512GB memory card that is far cheaper than having the 512GB version of iPhone. Both are flash based SSDs. In fact you can get a 1TB micro SD card for around £180.BOWFER said:

I agree 100% with neilmcl and you should learn from this experience.AdrianC said:

Green - prepare to stop.
Amber - stop, unless it's not safe to do so.
The OP did exactly what they should have done - stopped when the lights went from green to amber.
It's not their fault the driver behind wasn't looking where they were going.
Good driving is not just about legally being in the right, it's also about being aware of the possible consequences of your actions. This includes avoiding doing things that other drivers may not anticipate.
" i braked on amber and stopped a bit quickly. " - I assume this means you braked heavily.
Guidance from the highway code -
"AMBER means ‘Stop’ at the stop line. You may go on only if the AMBER appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident"
You should make the decision to either stop or go through a light in good time to avoid excessive braking. The light turning amber after that point, when excessive braking would be needed, should not cause you to change your mind. Only some unexpected hazard ahead should cause that.
While legally it's clear that all the blame will fall on the person behind, and he certainly should have left more space and stopped, the highway code guidance basically explains that you should not brake excessively to stop an amber light, as it may cause an accident.“Like a bunch of cod fishermen after all the cod’s been overfished, they don’t catch a lot of cod, but they keep on fishing in the same waters. That’s what’s happened to all these value investors. Maybe they should move to where the fish are.” Charlie Munger, vice chairman, Berkshire Hathaway0 -
In 1985 I was done by some coppers for going through an amber, they wouldn't listen to the fact I had a 1500kgs drillbit in the back of my pick up and slamming the brakes on would have been dangerous to me and others.Steve182 said:You may go on only if the AMBER appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident"
Even at that young age, I thought "sod them" and decided to take it as far as I could.
I won, just prior to going to court.0 -
Fair play to you.BOWFER said:

In a pickup?
Insecure?

How do I remember it was 1985, you may wonder.
Becasue I had "we close our eyes" by Go west blasting in the cab and didn't actually know the police were behind me for about 10 minutes....
I reckon that's why they did me, I may have got off with a talking to if they weren't so angry.
Anyway, end result was the same, I got off with it.0 -
How time has changed.BOWFER said:I had a 1500kgs drillbit in the back of my pick up and slamming the brakes on would have been dangerous to me and others.
I'd imagine today, they'd do you for jumping the light and again for an insecure load.1 -
There was nothing insecure about it, all strapped with ratchets and an insecure load wasn't even mentioned.Grumpy_chap said:

My argument was that while the crate was secure, the lump of metal inside the crate has a lot of momentum and who knows what slamming the brakes in may have done.
Someone evidently agreed, seeing as it was all dropped.0 -
I understand the fear when you have a 1500kg load behind you, but if it becomes loose just from some heavy braking, then by definition it is not securely loaded.2
