Has anyone received a delivery of the Suttons Best Value Perennial Collection which was offered in the weekly email of 28th April?
Suttons have sent me dispatch dates of 7th May and 31st May and have now "improved" their website so I cannot even see my original order.

    Still waiting for mine
    Retired 1st July 2021.
    This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."
  • I am also still waiting. Order placed 28/04. Last contact from Suttons was 30/04 advising a delivery date of 07/05. No plants have been delivered. I have contacted them a few times by email and through their website but they have failed to acknowledge receipt, never mind reply. Their website revamp is now useless for checking orders.
What really irks is today their website is advertising this offer (full price, £49.99) with a despatch date of 11th of June.
What a cheek - taking further orders before they have satisfied existing ones.
And was the original offer simply a scam? I was really looking forward to getting my plants.

"You don't get owt fer nowt" is a truth many forget.
The nurseries will have so much stock, which they'll shift to the most profitable outlets first, according to demand. Those who respond to bargain offers of this kind will be last in the queue, so it will be a lottery when and in what condition the plants will go out. In effect, you're being used as a dump for stock that's unlikely to shift through other channels, all of which is judged according to the season's vagaries and other random factors.

Just got mine finally in the post. Not sure what I was expecting, but I’m slightly disappointed... these are 1cm plugs. I’m pretty sure I won’t get all 72 as some are damaged/dead already.  Not sure how they can be worth more than £50… glad I didn’t pay more than I did. Wont be buying from them ever again.
  • I’m also still waiting!!  Defo won’t use Sutton’s again.  Apparently, despite told 7 May despatch and guaranteed before 31May my order was only collected from Sutton’s by Whistler on 2 June and then was handed over to Royal Mail at 06.45 on 5 June.  It’s now 4pm on 7 June and It’s still not here.   Having been in transit for 5 days so far I’m not confident anything will still be alive.   Very disappointed.  Don’t reckon MSE should have an association with a firm providing such shoddy service.
  • They’ve arrived!  9am on 8 June.  6 days in transit.  42 days from order to delivery. My reaction - a complete waste of money. Less than 1cm plugs (weak half dead seedlings) I could have grown better from seed in the time frame. Local garden centre will give you better value.   MSE please note - this was defo not a money saving deal!  Almost feel I’ve been mis-sold.  Puts me off considering using other MSE ‘deals’.

With some MSE deals you are contracted to get a standard item; say, a Vax cleaner. With that at least you have a manufacturer's warranty, and if they send you a pogo stick instead, you can complain successfully.
With plants there is no standard item, just a variable and delicate biological entity with a built-in opportunity to blame the carrier if it arrives looking very poorly, or even dead.

My pack arrived today, there is a single line of tracking from Whistl for shipment created on 2nd June.
The plugs are bone dry at the base but the foliage is wet and rotting with black or yellow leaves.
Outrageous: emails ignored, tracking non-existant, not sure that any plants will survive.

Some of mine had no leaves at all. I’ve planted them all out but don’t have much hope.

I don't see any photos here. One of the first things you should do is take a photo of whatever arrives, which will help your claim for a refund. I expect most of you will get one...eventually. Six days in transit is unacceptable, but it's a lottery at present, especially when when there's a shortage of delivery drivers. We all know why that is and it's affecting more than the non-essentials.
